Coppertone Kenmore 700 set!!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Those are 1969 models.

I have the "porch" version of that same dryer awaiting restoration. While I'm not sure of the washer's features, I can tell you that the dryer is a Soft Heat version (which means a modulated input burner if it's gas) and it will have and automatic dry cycle + pulser timer and end of cycle signal. Electrics are 5.6kW, gas models are 24 or 25kBTUH (read fast) and drum capacity is about 6ft^3.

I'd get these in a heartbeat if I weren't 2500 miles away.

WOW...That is EXACTLY the set my family had when I was growing up, including the color!!!! I remember all of us going to Sears to pick them out, and I pointed out this set to my Mom because it had lights!!! I thought it was neat that she actually picked it. We had this set until about 1996, when the washer finally gave up the ghost. Mom kept a maintenance agreement on the pair for about 20 years, but I don't recall the dryer ever needing a repair though. They were very good machines and served a famly of 5 well for a long time!!

Hi Rich, I think I have the owners manual for this washer if that would help you out. Are you thinking of getting this set? It sure looks nice! And you could use another set!..........

I do believe this is an alphabet washer -- temps set on the timer. There is a water level (infinite) switch, and a cold water key. Has you standard Kenmore 3 cycles (normal, pp, delicate), and 30 minute enzyme soak with soak only/soak-to-wash option. Normal cycle has 2nd rinse option. Super Roto Swirl agitator. The water level, cold water key and soak option switches are to the left of the dial under the lighter section of the console. The lighter section of the console has an explanation of the letters on the timer, and the dark piece in that section close to the timer is the 2nd rinse switch.

Nice set!

Peter, I need to clarify something about this washer. Yes, it does have the enzyme soak and pre-wash, but thre's no auto soak/pre-wash to wash capability. That would require the automatic detergent dispenser, which the 700 did not have--the 800 had. The 2nd rinse rocker switch is located within the letter descriptions. The water level and cold levers are next to each other. I honestly do not remember the features of the dryer and how it compared to the 800. Jason did grow up with the 700 dryer I do believe.

I think it's the original agitator. 600s still had straight-vaned agitators. Although 70s from 1968 had roto-swirls Sears could be very complex in its feature mix as it stepped up through the numbers. This 700 was definitely the bridge to fancier models. Maybe someone has an original catalogue scan of this model and can tell us.

Just out of curiosity, when and on what models were the roto-flex agitators (the ones with 6 vanes on the bottom, right?) used? I've only seen one in my life and they seem to be quite rare, as I don'g see many pop up here...

Well the Kenmores are in their new home among many other ones. The pictures on ebay did not do them justice. The set is in good shape. They need a good cleaning and a complete check over to assure many years of good operation but for the most part all looks minor.
