Corelle from Corning

I have been sorting through my instruction books and found a catalog for Corning/Pyrex/Revere Ware from their outlet store. There were some color pages with pictures of the various Corelle patterns. Long ago, my Mother bought the "Spring Blossom Green" pattern (when everything was gold and avocado about the kitchen and dining room!). When that set got worn out (lots of chips off the edges) she bought "Pink Trio". That one too suffered from edges getting chipped off the plates. Now, I have Pfaltzgraf "Village" that I purchased from various people on eBay. Here is photo #1.

We had Butterfly Gold

for over 20 years. I became heartily sick of the stuff. Now, I just have one luncheon plate of it, and that is enough for me.

The amusing/repulsive thing is that Replacements.com has it. At, of course, Replacements.com prices (but, hey, Replacements is gay owned, and has many gay employees.)

There is also a Corelle site I've visited that has information on other Corning products.  I believe that's the site where I was able to get the details on the Electromatic percolator recall and how to identify the pots that had the bad glue.

 

I don't think they have anything for sale there, but it's a good resource.

growing up my mother had a full set of Butterfly Gold which was a wedding gift from 1984, since then a set of Pfaltzgraf has been added to it for the everyday ware since about 50% of the service for 8 has been dropped and broken in 27 years.

    My maternal grandmother had a service for 12 of Butterfly Gold with many of the Pyrex accessories(hers are in very good condition and boxed up in the attic as I got her a set of Vintage china from Wards with pink roses.

    My Aunt has and still uses her Old Town Blue Corelle which was a wedding gift in 1986, I think it is the prettiest of the Corelle patterns.

    My paternal grandmother has various pieces of the Spring Blossom Green and I think it is ugly as sin, our neighbor also has this pattern.

 

In my kitchen I will have the Butterfly  Gold Corelle, I have all the serving pieces, I just need the mixing bowls, refrigerator dishes, drinking glasses and napkin rings.

I bought the Woodland Brown pattern back in 1979, and had the matching set of Pyrex mixing bowls.   They held up extremely well for several years, with the exception of one dinner plate which was set on a burner on the stove that hadn't been completely shut off.  Luckily everyone had moved to another room a split second before the plate exploded, sending thousands of needle-like shards all over the kitchen.

Those pictures bring back lots of memories.  My favorite would be the Garden Portraits.  That is one I don't ever remember seeing.  Thank for sharing this.

I happened to notice in the lineup of older 70's and 80's patterns the Wildflower pattern was omitted.

Peach and Blue...

...don't recall the name but my set was peach and blue. My grandmother has it now...she liked it much better than me. I wanted Abundance, and then settled. It's all been replaced by IKEA 365 feldspar porcelain in white....never will get tired of those!
