Truly "water wasting" and clean-dish capable dishwasher? Maybe!


 

The Dishlex DX103WK... A very simple dishwasher, with a little knob to control the cycle (via a computer, of course).

Cycles include:

<ul>
<li>Rinse/Hold</li>
<li>Pots - Rinse, Wash (70ºC/160ºF), Rinse, Rinse, Rinse</li>
<li>Regular Plus - Same as above, but cooler, by around 5ºC or 9ºF</li>
<li>Regular Eco - Rinse, Wash (50ºC/120ºF), Rinse, Rinse</li>
<li>Quick30 - Regular Plus, but with 1 Wash and 1 Rinse (Uhhh! We used that cycle!)</li>
</ul>
Fills are between 4L and 5L (1 - 1.32 US Gals.), depending on the cycle and water pressure in your home.

 

And all this can be had for around AU$500! With some luck, it won't catch fire... More advanced features, such as a Delay Start, Countdown Display and an 'Auto' program are reserved for the more technically adept models.

Although, I question what "Load Sensing" does in this model, and I *LOL* at how the "Pots" cycle is shorter than the Regular Plus/Eco cycles! 

 

So, is this the "best buy" for someone looking for a good, cheap dishwasher?

I bought one in 2011 to replace the Whirlpool dishwasher I had bought but quickly realised how terrible it was. This dishwasher was and still is amazing, cleans to absolute perfection every time, For a full load i used the Pots cycle a lot because they then get a nice hot 70* blast and it really does a great job on everything

I moved out of the house it currently resides in in August and its not shown a sign of giving up yet and it washes for a household of 6 daily.

The only thing i can say is that the upper rack doesn't hold glasses or even cups very well, you have to be gentle closing the drawer or they all go tumbling lol.

I am now using a Blanco dishwasher that does just a good a job as the Dishlex

I think that this model is made by Electrolux, as the Zanussi ZDF2020 looks alike.
Also the 'Made in Europe'sticker on the door could explain...

The dishlex is virtually the same as our 2007 zanussi ZDF131,however, the hotest cycle on ours is 65*c not 70*c and we have only got 4 cycles on ours.

Doesn't surprise me if this Dishlex looks anything like European models created by Electrolux - espeecially considering they've owned Dishlex since around 2007 (Our "Dishlex" from then was an "Electrolux/Dishlex" machine).

 

I wonder if the Zanussi models also used to catch fire and have terrible racking arrangements(?)

Yes unfortunately they certainly do. I lived with the zanussi equivalent of that machine for a year, the racks drove me mad! You can barely fit a thing in and everything you can fit in falls over!

Not only that but the cleaning performance wasn't that great, left glasses cloudy, didn't remove much burnt on food and coated everything in gritty dried on bits of food.

If you want a decent mid range machine get a Bosch, if the budget doesn't extent to Bosch, an arcelik designed machine is a much better budget option.

I actually think my parent's ariston might be a better machine than I have found these to be.

I second your opinion on Bosch. Our 13 year old Bosch Dishwasher has only ever been called out to once - a simple blockage - and an engineer came out to replace the PCB board as they recalled lots of models. Oh, and the delay start button has fallen off.

On the other hand, my mum's friend has a 2007 Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher that has not had any problems, and cleans as well as the Crystaljet it replaced, but that has light usage, whilst our Bosch has heavy use!

Hey guys - just wanted to say my experience of this machine (Zanussi) has been different, I think its an amazing machine that runs maybe 2-3 cycles per day, every day and it has performed flawlessly!

Washes very well, and is pretty light on salt and rinse aid use.

AGREE totally with the upper rack problem, I wonder if anyone actually uses the products they make! You can get round it by placing glasses on the spikey bits / loops that stand up tho and this works fine.

I am the opposite to you guys and replaced a Bosch with this, and have vowed NEVER to go back to Bosch after the absolutely appalling customer service and the terrible life span of my last dish washer
