Hello my name is Joshua and I'm addicted to dishes, kitchen tools and appliances...
...
This site is bad for me.. I thought my obsession with vacuums was bad enough but now I keep adding.. :/
Anyways, I used to cater.. I find it easier to cook for 200 than to cook for my self.. I am gaining weight because I keep eating crappy food from fast places... I need to go back to cooking for my self again. I hate the way food tastes from the microwave, so I was digging around and started looking into these glass bowl oven thingys that used to be a huge craze probably before I was born.
It got me to thinking, when we'd make meals for big parties, we'd make the food a week or so ahead, freeze it then cook it in a convection oven and bring it back to life. Why couldn't I do this for my meals at work? That lead to talking to people about the nuwave etc and blah blah blah..
Well, this being the wonderful land of appliances, I figure that at least one of you has to have an opinion on a good quality device to do what I am looking for.
I was looking at the one Fagor offered, and am strongly leaning towards that one, but ideally what I want is something I can bake "a big ole mess a-somethin'" in and then dump the thing in the dishwasher and away I go...
I want the bowl to be glass.. I do not want a plastic oven to bake in... :/ Why would they even make such things.. Also, if I could find one that isn't halogen, I'd be happy, but if thats all they make anymore, I guess my options are limited...
And like crock pots, I probably wanna stick with mechanical controls, not digital so that way I can use a wall timer if I needed and have it start and stop on its own..
Mainly, I was thinking I could finally start using up some of the supplies I 'borrowed' from my catering jobs -- aluminum togo containers, disposable baking pans, etc and portion things out in round baking dishes, freeze them, take one out, let it thaw in the oven, have the timer kick the oven on for the baking period and have it shut off and.. magically lurnch is ready.
