We had a couple neighbors with '59 Oldsmobiles. Ruth Seibert had a Ninety-Eight in silver, and the Bates family had a Dynamic 88 station wagon in black.

The Johnston's at the corner had a '60 Dodge Dart in dark green.

My neighbor girl Carol had a Chevelle SS in lime green metallic that was either a '70 or '71.

My cousin Mike had a Camaro Berlinetta in light blue, but I think it was a '78.

My neighbors the Wilsons had either a '71 or '72 Chrysler Newport, and I believe it was part of the Royal series. I'll try to remember to ask her about that the next time I talk to her.

There was a Chrysler Royal in my neighborhood when I was a kid. It may have been a step below the Newport, but it was still a Chrysler.

Anyone remember the Cadillac Calais? It was like a DeVille with hand-cranked windows.

I believe the 1958 Edsel was the only year for the pushbutton transmission selector, located in the steering wheel hub.  The 1959 models used the more-conventional column shifter.  I suspect the later arrangement was less expensive and, as Edsels didn't sell like Ford was hoping, was an easy way to save money on what was to become a losing cause.
