Apropos of my Radarange find, I went to the Amana site to look at how their models have changed since my RRL-9TC was built.
They've come out with a 40th Anniversary model that has the upright square look of vintage Radaranges, but has modern features. However, a close look at the unit reveals some things that make me wonder what Whirlpool was thinking.
To begin with, the unit has a suggested retail of $569 (in stainless), $330 more than the TOL countertop machine in their regular line. It has a bit less power than the regular TOL machine - 1000W vs. 1,100W. And it's smaller inside - 1.5 cu. ft. vs. 2.0 cu. ft. for the regular TOL.
It's a very nice-looking machine, don't get me wrong, but what would be the appeal, other than the 40th Anniversary connection?
