Morning All,

Just received this large leaflet and it made me really chuckle !! " It has some really rather dated advertising lines..Like as you can see from below "Wherever you are - Currys are a girl's best friend" and " What's a smart girl like you doing without a modern washing machine...?"

The leaflet dates from 1968..however still in 1968 a woman could not buy a washing machine on HP (hire purchase)

How times have changed !!

Hope all is OK. Many thanks for posting the adverts - something a bit different, seeing adverts from stores rather than manufacturers.
Just frustrating that this new fangled uploading lark doesn't make images the size that the old system used to and also makes? Much prefer the old uploading method.

By the look of things, toploading machines still predominated in 68 and very much all UK machines, barring the Frigidaire (daft question probably, but was that Frigidaire US built and imported?).

Is the Currys Keymatic the cold fill only 3203, or the Hot and cold fill 3203H? Found this stunning photograph on Flikr a couple of months ago. Wonderful

Hi Lee.

You should print off the advert, got to Currys and metaphorically beat them around the head with it! See if you can extract something from them.
If you bought our machine in 1981, ideally August, then its the principle - you didn't get your free iron!
Let us know what their reaction is

Lee you told me you never iron anything anyway so that iron would be wasted mate I do remember some clothes waiting to be ironed in your living room

you've got there Keith and Paul.

I find it interesting that the cheapest machine in 1981 cost £169 and in 2014 the cheapest machines I've seen in store have been £169. The numbers may be the same but the cost in real income terms and the design and build of the machines are quite different.

Yes Paul that's a stunning photo, shame the stock was all pushed so close together, but then again you get the close up of the control panels. Also a shame not to have unpacked that sunbeam and shown a the Servis controls too. I suppose what I'm really requiring is to step in to that photograph and have a good look.

Lee, it's all about the free gift with you isn't it,lol, what with the ongoing trading standards enquiry over those `Snob' promotions and all.
