Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I think it's a later model and also the "El-Cheapo"version from around 1961-1962.Notice,there are no buttons for the water temperatures or water level.I would'nt pay any more than $150 for it.In fact, I don't think this model even has the self cleaning filter arm.

U could be right laundromat but I am a 59 model, and the folks had these in a house they purchased prior to my 1959 arrival. you are correct though no lint ejector vane, hot or warm was on the single cycle dial the longer time wash was hot and shorter wash time was warm and the dryer, was a shrubbery flocker, No lint filter. Mom had the electric dryer but it did get very HOT. They were very much ahead of their time, I remember my mother using snowy bleach, and Dash, If Salvo tablets (probably on sale) were used she broke the tablet in 1/2.

Did the seller fall down and smack their little head on the pavement? 500 bucks for and obscure washer targeted to movie set people who film scenes in a trailer? Movie Production companies either rent or use prop fronts from other prop companies and set design sources. Does the 500 dollar thing even work? I cant imagine a director stating that there must be an authentic working under the couter trailer model of a front load washer to complete the film. On the other hand,it is cute for a collector.

well,

The second-hand appliances store I worked for back in the 80's did a surprisingly brisk business with both the firms which inventory "era" props as well as with the folks making a film. Maybe American TV and Film is much better organized, but over here, at least, you do see directors and actors ooo-ing and ahhh-ing in antique shops and flea markets about just the right requisite...
Still, even 007 films have budgets...and 500$ for this machine is just plain silly.
But hey - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Laundress, are you familiar with the term "Renovated" to describe the new marital status of someone who had obtained a quickie divorce in Reno?

This machine has 3 vanes in the porcelain tub. It was way before the larger two vane drum. The fill port was at the top of the outer tub, about midway from front to back. That meant that the spray rinse between wash and the first spin did not flush the suds out of the load like in the full size Laundromats where the water entered directly into the inner drum.

I don't think Mrs. Buck Williams, Haines, Fowler or the rest of that Reno crowd ever even did a load of laundry in their lives! Only Crystal knew what that was about.

Hi Ralph. I remember that crew. They went to Reno to get
"Reno-Vated". I bet Marjorie Main, Ma Kettle did laundry but in an old wringer washer on the porch.

The original "Space Mates"washer tumbled counter-clockwise instead of the original clockwise direction.Because of its smaller cabinet, the pump had to be installed backwards. The newer models with a larger drum, were able to be more compatible and held more clothes.
