Years ago one Thanksgiving, stopped at a cousin's house to see the family, and was lead to a televison with the movie linked below running.

My cousin's exact words were, "I bet you will be crying by the end", and sure enough one was a blubbing mess.

To this day still cry..

and the kitchen

The 60's kitchen in the new house in the country model 12 Sunbeam waffle iron and pyrex can u tell Ive seen the movie way to many times

In the mid 60s, neighbors told us about this movie before taking their big, tough police detective husband and father to see it at the local theater. He scoffed at the talk of tears, but was a fountain of tears by the end like everyone else. This is the most emotional and cathartic of the three versions, good to watch after a lot of stress when you need a big release. It is the cinematic equivalent of magnesium citrate for the upper body.

Sara Jane's anguished cry at the doors of the hearse, "Momma, do you hear me?" was repeated with "can" instead of "do" in the Dianna Ross hit, "I'm Living In Shame" which dealt with a variation on the theme.
