I got back from New Jersey spending a week with my Dad who just turned 80.

This summer I was desperate for an 806 set and found this in New Jersey in August.

They're 606's. So I figured I will never find the 806's so I bought these. BrianL was nice enough to pick these up for me and store them.

And as you all know, last week I found the Harvest 806's

Eddie,

Soon you will have the entire rainbow of colors offered by Maytag at this rate. Congrats on another nice score!

Congratulations Eddie, that will be a great set when you are done with them. Your laundry room looks fantastic!! That harvest gold set is beautiful.

Every month IS Maytag Month!

Wow Eddie, what a find! Congratulations!

Now all you need to do is find the rest of the color pallot (Avocado, pink, turquoise) and you'll be all set!!!

YAY!

Kevin

Oh Dear,,,

I'm working on them now.

Haven't got the front panel off yet but Oy !!!

A mess like this I've never seen !!! If you wash clothes to get them clean, Why on Earth don't people keep the Machines Clean ???

Must have been a Damp Basement

I think this is going to be my First Total Restoration.

The sides of the Cabinet on one side is a mess. Nothing I have tried will take it off.

One more Under Carriage Shot.

The Belts are shot and I'm almost afraid to Plug this Guy In.

Oh that Eric !

Hi Eric.
Brian refered to Eric was going to Help him and I just didn't realize it was you.

Thank You for Helping out. Sorry, I didn't know they were that much of a PITA. Was the Basement Nasty ???

It was my pleasure Eddie. It was a little difficult to get them though the maze the guy had down there, and they just BARELY fit out the door at the top of the stairs into the garage. Always up for a challenge, tho!

So Eddie, when do you get the Avocado set?? LOL
Seriously, the Coppertone set is gorgeous! Not a colour I remember seeing the Maytags in that much up here, but Coppertone's popularity seemed to fade faster here in Canada for some reason. Hell, they'd be way easier to find in the snow... LOL

good enough to eat

Scrolling upward the big styled brown block in #17 looks like rich, delicious chocolate. What a color! Is it lunch time yet? Hot cup a cocoa anyone?

Well Eddie, yeah that coppertone washer needs some help, but it's all relative.

Anything would look like a basket case compared to the absolutely sterile harvest 806 you scored!

Hi Keith

Elbow Grease, Elbow Grease.

I usually start with a sudsy bath with some sort of Grease Cutter. (Greased Lightening or Power Clean). If there is stuck on Crap, I like to use a Scotch Brite Yellow Sponge with the Green Back and LIGHTLY Rub the area with water to "rehydrate" the Crap. *(Crap being Dried Liquid Laundry Detergent,Fabric Softner and PreWash Goo Treatments.)

Then depending on the "Damage", If it's bad I start with Rubbing Compound. Then onto Polishing Compound and finish with a Good Quality Wax.

For the Chrome if it's pitted, usually Coarse Rubbing Compound. Then onto a Good Metal Polish like Blue Magic. Nevr Dull works good too.

Once the Machines are all polished up, Just Mild Soap and Water seem to do the trick and always wipe up the "Spritzes" if the Lid happens to be open right away.

Hope this Helps.

BTW, I am going to do the Coppertone Set again tomorrow as I'm not happy with it presently.

CLEANING WASHERS

Most of what you are trying to clean off washers is hardened mineral deposits, dried liquid detergent and powered detergent will just rinse away with almost no rubbing. Your machine also shows signs of frequent over sudsing, it may be much easier to get a good donor machine to save the beautiful coppertone cabinets for.

Very restorable

Hey Eddie that 606 doesnt look bad.The base just has surface rust.I would strip the machine all the way down to the base and sand it down then repaint.I would take this opportunity to do the damper pads if needed also.At the very least that machine by this time would need a stem and seal kit and bearing. That gold set is gorgeous and what a beautiful Frigidaire.
