Dehumidifier Troubleshooting

What goes wrong with fairly new Home Depot esque $200-$250 humidifiers. I presume the compressor has stopped in ours (fan runs). Is there an obvious debug?

Chinese compressors and other junky parts. The fan motor on my Kenmore dehumidifier (LG made) failed 10 days past the warranty expiration. New motor was only $15 less than the unit. It's sitting in the garage in a box.

Dehumidifier Troubleshooting

Chinese run capacitors are total garbage. If the unit has a compressor run capacitor that could easily be your problem.

If it's fairly new, return it to Home Depot. They're pretty good about returns and exchanges. I've heard quite a few bad things about new dehumidifiers and air conditioners coming out of Asia recently.

If it's just out of warranty

you might murmur something about "merchantability," while you hand the manager your card about your daytime gig.

I have my second DeLonghi. The first one was replaced during the warranty period. The second one survived that period, I guess I have it three years now. The compressor runs, but it doesn't dehumidify anymore. I'm done with DeLonghi!

i have an amcor rebadged dehumidifier in the utility room, so far its been absoloutly briliant, no problems apart from the fact that the casing sometimes vibrates during opperation, not bad tho for a sub £200 unit lol
