Sometimes the best things in life are free
Hey Dave,Since you like Volvos I'll tell you about the best Volvo I ever had and it was free,In '94 my Mom was shopping for a new Mazda because the '86 626 with about 200,000 miles had been so good so we went to the Mazda dealer to get her a new car and I spotted a gold '88 Volvo 240 on the used car lot,she was hesitant at first but I said we have to test drive it,it had 136,000 miles on it but was showroom new and one owner dealer maintained,I drove it and it was very peppy so she said this is an old car so the brakes might not be so good,I applied the 4 wheel disk brakes and it stopped on a dime, she said I know you want this car so I'll buy it and in a year or so you can buy this one from me and I'll geta new one, well she loved it and 9 years later,it was starting to rust and she got another car and said are you sure you still want this car,I drove it another three years,at that point it had about 300,000 miles and still going but rust was forming around the driver door hinge's and eventually started loosing power steering, brake and trans.fluid so I let the Golden Chariot lay to rest.at one point someone sideswiped it and I collected 1300.00,and I parted it out on e-bay,sure got our moneys worth out of that car,the only thing it ever needed were brakes, tires and batteries, the water pump, alternater and starter were still original, some of the parts still live on in the "new" '89 240 that I've had for four years. I know this got way off topic but oh well, How many fans do you have? I have four Emersons. Mark
