This is normal here. There is a free telephonenumber you can call to get the exact scoop. Why they aren't packed right away? Well I think it's because here it's common to search for your self for the right "dosage". Just keep a plastic cup or beaker to take the detergent.

Did you

plunge your manly hand way down to the bottom of the box?

If it's a "big name" brand, just call the 1-800 number, and they'll tell you what the amount to use will be, usually 1/2 to 3/4 cup.

You're welcome.

Louis: Arm & Hammer Brand. Dosis in terms of scoop only.
Yes please, Hyacinth.

Monsieur AskoM. Merci Beaucoup. C'est une bonne idee! I am using a beaker as we speak.

Lawrence: GYNAIKOLOGOS DEN EIMAI (I am not a gynecologist).
but yes I dug deep to search with my bare hands. WHAT A MAN!

Ray: Great minds think alike! That has been what I have been doing.

Eugene: Down boy. Clinton had a wife and a mistrees. At least he could multi-task. Some presidents can't do ONE thing right at at time.

It's been a mystery to me... Those bags of Mexican Ariel that promote using the "Practi-Taza" ("Taza" means "cup") for dispensing the product... but the Practitaza is never to be found in any of the bags I've inspected... Maybe it's a special order item that my limited grasp of Espanol is unable to decipher.

On a related tangent... I've been bugging my local mexican grocer to stock Ariel Bajaespuma (the equivalent of HE). I got him to check with the distributor twice... and the latest word is that we'll just have to be patient... Ariel/PG is slowly testing the waters, rolling out the product in high-hispanic areas like LA and Texas... guess we have to wait for it to migrate to El Norte (San Francisco Area) for a truly great high efficiency washday experience.

Makes sense to me not including those plastic scoops. Consider every box of Tide comes with one, and if one is brand loyal what does one do with all those scoops? As a new one comes with each new box, one eventually chucks the "old" away, waste.

When we purchased our first front loader, and then a box of Persil, there was no scoop included with the detergent. Contacted Miele and they sent us two "Persil/Miele" detergent scoops, and have been using them ever since. Also have a "Dynamo" detergent cup which is ages old. It came with free samples of the detergent being distributed to homes in our area when Dynamo was first being rolled out. Those where the days, every home in the area got a full sized bottle sample, and as some women wouldn't bother with liquid detergent was able to nab several bottles.

Consumer Reports noted many detergents including Tide that offer free scoops play tricks. They make the scoop slightly larger while decreasing slightly the size of the box. All this without changing the recommended dosage of detergent. Net result is one uses more detergent without even knowing about it, provided one follows directions printed on box.
