I'm checking...

...a few on my Emerson motors to see if I can figure it out:I think your motor is from 2002,older for sure since it is "made in USA"-I checked motor taken from junked 2002 KA DD and discovered motor seems to be 2016 replacement-"made in Mexico..." One from a 2010 VMW had 010A3 date code...I'll check a few more and report back :)

Hey there. Any updates? I guess I’m really just wanting to know if the Mexican made drive motors are as good as the ones built in the USA. Thanks

I'd say the "made in Mexico"motors may be as good as US,but Emerson motors for a couple years in the '10s had problem with pot metal centrifugal mechanism weights breaking-problem later corrected. I could check my stash of salvaged DD motors if you are looking for a certain one :)Also,I am still looking into deciphering the Emerson appliance motor date codes as I am interested too :)

Emerson Appliance motors

I never saw any difference between the ones that were assembled here in the US or in Mexico. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’d probably take the Mexican one because it’s newer and it’s probably got more life in it if you have a choice.

p/n...

is the pictured 3-speed motor the one you are looking for? I am wondering if one that says "Kitchenaid" on motor label has a different p/n but is otherwise the same.

It would seem that when I look all I can find are two-speed motors. Perhaps as stated above a Kitchenaid one could be substituted in and work the exact same. Those were three-speed DD machines.

KitchenAid, Whirlpool, and Kenmore all had 3-speed direct-drive models.  I have one KitchenAid, two Whirlpools, one Kenmore machine.  I believe KitchenAid had a slightly beefier motor at one point, may have changed to the standard version toward the end of production.
