Love mac/cheese..........

Oh, nice - send recipe or link... Love mac and cheese.

Tonight tho, sitting at Applebee's enjoying a rum and coke waiting on dinner - wife has a Bahama Mama.... Nice and relaxing.

The butter dish is 5 years old and its Pfaltzgraf. There was a store that went out of business called Kitchen Etc and we picked up the plates and bowls and everything else at a good price. now I am jonesing for a new dishes and from IKEA. The cassarole dish you see in the pic is from IKEA.

Oh my!!

Mac and Cheese is one of my all time favorites as well!! Looking at that recipe this one must be to die for.

Speaking of bakeware and other things........

Bob,

I know we're still in the Eastertide season but I decided to put this up when the Pfalzgraf talk started. This is not bakeware but 1960 Flintridge China that was my mother's set from her wedding gift registry. My parents were married December 9, 1960 and this was the china pattern she chose I have loved this as far back as memory can go into childhood.

This set up was for Christmas 2007 at our house - we had everyone over that year so decided to put out the china for that day. The full description on this china:

1960 Flintridge China
Pattern: Miramar - Rim
Pink Rose Center, Gray Rim, Platinum Trim.

This is not made any longer - Flintridge has been out of business since the late 60s or early 70s but a place called
Replacements, LTD in Greensboro, NC is the place to find discontuned and rare china and other collectibles - they are the best that I know of to find older china patterns. I have a cup and saucer that I have to replace and they are the only ones that have it. So, if you're into this aspect of things Replacments, LTD might be the place to look if you need replacement pieces for older china sets.

One other thing........

I'll post more on this later in the fall as we get back to the Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas time but thought some might find this interesting.

This photo is from Christmas 2007 as well - it was our Advent wreath and this was made Christmas morning and was set up for a family communion time before breakfast was served. Many here will recognize the smaller book on the right side of the table in the photo - 1928 Book of Common Prayer..... I use it alot during Advent/Christmas for readings and our home observance of Advent. Thought this was a neat photo after the china post above..... used one of the small plates from the set for the communion bread.

Hope you enjoy it - we'll get more on the holiday themes later in the year!

Randy,

I see that Replacements.com has a 46pc estate set of your pattern for sale. The asking price is $599.95. I have found that they are usually way overpriced on 99.9% of what they have for sale.

Fortunately......

all I need is a cup and saucer replaced - not really found anyone else who has this type of replacements for older china patterns. Yes, I saw the estate set.... it's nice but... costly - you'd probably have to well off enough to own an estate to get it - lol!

They do have individual replacment pieces - only thing is with the cup/saucer issue I have is that in order to get the replacement cup I have to take the saucer too even though I don't need it..... but, you never know when something might get broken so I'll keep it when I get it. One other thing is that they tend to have more things in stock and available versus other places I checked when I started looking for replacment pieces but back to the original issue - yes they are a bit pricy but they do tend to have it available where others don't.

Actually have an idea for something......

I'll start a new thread for china, silverware, silver sets or other dinnerware that is of a vintage nature or even newer.
Think it would be interesting to see what other things are out there that we're interested in that way we can get back to the recipes here and that mac and cheese is one I've got to try!

Paula Deen

Rp I think I know the Paula Deen recipe your talking about too...I tried it and it was missing something. I never made it again. This mac and cheese I will make again. It was a hit thats for sure. I wont make it every week since there is a ton of cheese in it plus the pancetta and yes its a heart attack in a cassarole dish...but hell you only live once! I might try making it next time with regular bacon.
