Can't talk disco without Divine!

And one of his best songs was Shoot Your Shot. It's classic Divine, a good beat with some extra sassiness thown in. I saw him perform on a couple of occasions in the '80s and he was a real riot, very funny, just an all around great entertainer.

We saw this show in Chicago a few years ago. While I liked the way Donna Summer did the song, I think this version is the definitive. Those "tubes" really slammed you in the chest with the bass during this song. One of the most incredible concerts I have ever been to!

haha, this made my day. I'm currently taking a rock music in the 70's and 80's and just gave a group presentation last night on Disco!! It went very well!

Omg, it was such a fun time, at a time in some of our lives when we could actually work a job, attend class, go out 3/4 of the night, we did it almost every single night. Did not really cost a lot of money either. We knew where every Happy Hour was and it lasted till 9 pm. Then there was the bar wars. I remember years ago in New Orleans when a bar that was closing called "The Loading Zone" had 50 cent well drinks, not to be outdone, "Lafittes" gave drinks away. Seemed like we knew everybody, the events the "White Party" & Tea dance at the "Parade" The late 1970's and most of the 80's was truly fun. By the late 80's many things had changed, HIV was real and devastating friends. We were painting rooms and donating time to hospice organizations like "Lazareth House". But every now and then you hear some of the old disco and its a very sweet sound. alr2903

I would get home from work around 6PM and I lived 3 blocks away from the Hippo, a gay club in the downtown area of Baltimore,Maryland. I'd get together with my school friends at 9PM,do a late, light dinner and some "goodies" then,no later than 10:30PM,I'd be the first one on the dance floor. I'd warm up with some jumps, whirls and twirls and wind up enticing others to "get down" and the massive crowds would leave me with no other choice than to get up on one of the tall speakers and dance there to keep my arms from knocking anybody out. When I would spin around,it would be so severe, that anyone close enough would become a target. However, most of the others would be sure to keep enough distance to enable me to do my version of Rapidry! lol.Songs like "Reach" by Kim Cheaks,:"High Energy" by Evelyn Thomas, who was at one of the other clubs and pulled me right up off the dance floor to join her on stage during a show, and so many others that are now only "moldy oldies" to most others but classic underground disco to me.I have my own dance floor here just outside my bathroom that overlooks the pacific and has a huge mirror globe as well as lights and a great set of speakers. We built it last Fall to keep the football fans from getting an attitude about my other lani where they wanted to watch the games.I've since pulled all cable connections away from their so nobody can go there to watch tv.The roofing is clear polly strips like the green ones used on railroad bridges on the freeways. It aquired some leaks and was shorting out the electronics.I fixed the leaks and put a 48" wide DCS gas double oven 8 burner, convection range there with a deep double bowl commercial sink,Frigidaire refrigerator and a nice round table with matching chairs.

Did anyone here learned to

do the Hustle? There was a girl at the club who taught me and we were not too bad. But, I could never do it with another guy. Sorry, but I have never seen two guys that were coordinated enough to do this type of dancing.

Did anyone here learned to do the Hustle?

I don't believe there was ever any specific dance steps. I read several comments on youtube arguing about the many different ways it's "supposed" to be done.

Oh Yes! There Were Steps For The Various "Hustle" Da

There was also freestyle.

Growing up in a mostly Italian area, trust me, we children spent more time in various family rooms and such learning our "moves". Of course this was the era of "Saturday Night Fever" and the lot, so everyone was bopping around like Mr. Travolta.

There are certain dances from that era one simply has to know the proper steps, especially line dances such as the "Bus Stop", a HUGE wedding dance I can tell you, still.

"Sorry, but I have never seen two guys that were coordin

You didn't get out much did you then? *LOL*

Maybe it was because I grew up in New York, but saw lots of male couples tear a floor apart doing the Hustle.

Speaking of "Divine"

Only know her from a film we saw on cable late one night. Ok, it was early in the morning, but when one is young....

The film was called "Lust in the Dust", and watched it at an older friends house, and am here to tell you NEVER have I laughed so much.
