Sitting in a junk line up: -decently clean WP: larger than usual horizontal split capacitor wash pump and wet rotor drain pump. 2006. Might grab it for repair evaluation if these are decent.
That's probably a point voyager. I'm curious about the spray power. I had a 2007 Whirlpool Gold which left glasses cruddy in the corners and upper rack later in 2008.Sitting in a junk line up: -decently clean WP: larger than usual horizontal split capacitor wash pump and wet rotor drain pump. 2006. Disagree, lower rack performance is acceptable but upper rack performance is miserable. I'm still on the lookout to replace mine that's aggravating the hell out of me. Worst performing dishwasher I have owned in 40 years. After the detergent companies sorted things out within several years, the PointVoyagers were as good as any other dishwasher.
Have you made sure the seals in the spray arm both where it connects to the back of the tub and where the arm mounts to the rack are in good shape? IIRC there is a nylon washer on the latter.Disagree, lower rack performance is acceptable but upper rack performance is miserable. It's quiet though, if noise is an important factor.
Mine quit cleaning the glasses in 2008. I thought the point voyager came out in 2000-2001.Disagree, lower rack performance is acceptable but upper rack performance is miserable. Are you sure? When my mom's point voyager whirlpool gold was at her house, she had to use pots and pans and soak and scour due to the cleaning performance. I have an LG which cleans like a power clean.Qsd-Dan, please check:
*is there sufficient water in the machine? If it is a stainless steel tub model; the water level should be up to the bottom of the heating element at minimum. Also confirm the unit is level! It might be time to replace the water inlet valve.
*is the chopper blade and screen clean? While you have the pump cover off, inspect the rubber check valve. It may be deteriorated or have swelled impairing its operation.
*depending on the age of your machine, a new upper spray arm would help. The arm and jets were modified to improve overall cleaning. Especially in the corners. As mentioned by MichaelZ08, check the water path to upper spray arm.
*Be sure to use a quality detergent.
The parts mentioned are modestly priced. So from a cost standpoint, it shouldn't cost much to tune up your machine. They are quite capable of doing a good job with dishes that have been just scraped or perhaps very lightly rinsed to remove gross amounts of food residue.
