Dishwasher in Central Illinois?

Hopefully this doesn't sound as a lack of taste, but does anyone live around central Illinois preferrably (or St. Louis or Kansas City area) that would have an older dishwasher they would want to part with? It does not matter if it is working or not. Im looking to add to my collection.

I'm interested in years around 1970 -1985 Portable or built in. Specifically looking for a Maytag or KA or a upper end Whirlpool/Kenmore with the Power Clean/Ultrawash modules.

Maybe you know the answer to this..........I've been trying to find a user guide to a Maytag of those years to find out if all or some have a heated wash/and or rinse. Earlier someone posted some model numbers for a maytag, but the maytag website wants a 10 digit or the .pdf doesn't exists. I've searched elsewhere on the web but no luck.

Also, looking for a Fridgidaire Spray Tube, or the next 5 or so year models after this. You may know the models I'm talking about, the ones with the big black dial on the upper right hand corner that were made by GM, I believe most of these also had a toggle switch for rinse hold/regular cycles. One of these would have to be a portable.

Also looking for a 1-18 in good working condition.

Maytag only offered the Sani-Cycle on their top of the line (TOL) models until the early 80's when the TOL and next model down offered the option. My WU-601 dishwasher has the sani cycle, it is a double wash cycle with a final rinse heated to 155-160F. The heater is energized during most circulation periods of the cycle, but only to maintain water temp, not specifically boosting temps to a pre-determined level as in the sani-rinse.

What your saying is most model maytags of that era have no water heating being done by the machine, or are all the machines heating the water (sani or not) continuously!.?

I guess what Im asking is If you'd have a lower end model w/no sani cycle, is the machine heating any water at any given time?

Yes, the heater is on during all wash and rinse circulation phases but will continue to run through the cycle time regardless of the water temperature. The sani-rinse cycle actually stops the timer until the proper temp is reached. The TOL model has a China/Crystal cycle that does not use the heater at all, washing, rinsing or drying.

I'd love to find some old top loader portables to go along with my GE PowerShower!

I've got a PowerShower too, two things I dont like about it, (actually 3 but I can live w/o water filtering if I have too) I dont like that there is no insulation of any kind, the inside of the DW is the same sheet of metal that is exposed to the outside of the DW. Also lacks a heated wash.

Mine needs a new fill valve, as I get a loud buzzing sound when the water valve cuts off (currently the faucet must be turned off then on again after each fill).

On a positive note, it seems these older water guzzeler DW's seem to produce better results with hard water than the newer DW's.....anyone have an idea as to why?

Heated Wash

True on the heated wash. That first little "pre-wash" is a bit tepid. However, once turned on and motor running the heating element is fired up! By the end of the last rinse, watch out, that water will be scalding! Guess that's why they dry so fast!

I bought a sheet of 1/4" plexi and got out the dremmel. Pretty amazinig how powerful that dishwasher is! I need to get in gear and take some pics of it doing it's thing!
