Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I wash mopheads in the dishwasher, I dont like sponge mops, I have a mop handle I got at an auction and some one at work hooked me up with 2 or 3 mop heads so I wash them in the dishwasher.
I always washed my wire hubcaps from my Buick LeSabre in there too.
I have run the hedge clippers and my small gardening shovels through the dishwasher

In the past if I had a bad burn or a deep cut I would put gauze pads in a mason jar and seal and run through the dishwasher to sterilize it so I could have sterile dressing. You can do this with anything that will fit in a mason jar and can hold up to the heat.

And to answer your question Martin,
I have never washed money but I do starch and press it so it is crisp and wrinkle free.

I take apart my IBM Model M (Clicky) keyboards and run the non-electrical parts through the dishwasher. I have also washed outer cases and cover of typewriters. I also clean the range hood filter in the dishwasher

I too have washed nick nacks, light covers, in the dishwasher as well. I haven't washed the detergent drawer for my Frigidaire in the dishwasher, but I have thought about it. I'm going to run the filter for my Maytag 806 through it sometime.

In the radio biz-I have used and others I know have used a dishwasher to clean some transmitter parts-such as small power tubes and vacuum capacitors. The dishwasher also cleaned used audio patchpanels well-just rinse them with a solvent degreaser top get rid of any remaining detergent residue to aviod corrosion.the Hotpoint dishwasher in my apartment at the time worked well. The water spray blasted the cooked bugs out of the power tube fins.Large tubes are too heavy to put in the machine. If they are really bad-wash their radiators in the sink or use an air blast gun.Its surprizing how many cooked bugs and pecies of cooked lint get in the power tube cooling fins-despite there are air filters on the transmitters air intake.

Making Bread....

When i make fresh bread you have to knead the dough and then leave it "somewhere warm" for two hours to let the dough 'prove'...the perfect place i have found is the inside of my Neff Integrated Dishwasher just after it's done a 30min Quick Wash....Makes an AWESOME loaf!!

Washing money

That's a GOOD idea, Martin. I had a neighbor that worked in a bank. I knew her for 2 years and she was sick with something the whole time I knew her. Plus, think about the cocaine and meth that may have gone threw it. YUCK!!!!....Bill in Az.....

Silk Flowers and artificial plants

place in a bag you use for the washer to was delicates, use the top rack of the dishwasher, use a light or rinse/hold cycle, my machine has a fine crystal cycle which airates the water to a gentle stream, go easy on the detergent(it contains bleach), or use a teaspoon of BORAX, or put in some TANG or squeeze a lemon in there, they'll smell fresh, and then just keep checking them every few minutes thru out and pull them out when clean...put in a vase outside (moderate sun), sometimes you have to fluff them up, like ferns...and then your done...........becareful of anything that may be glued...if the dishwasher can't get a skinny vase clean, fill it with hot water and drop in a denture tablet...

TANG(yes, what the astronauts drink) will also clean out the scum in your dishwasher, think whats it doing to your insides? scary!

this is great for plastic plants and fruit....just wash them in a delicates bag....works for those who recycle plastic ware instead of throwing them out! and they don't fly all over the machine.....

Next weeks thread will be on "Grooming your Bear"...or maybe hints on what to do with those darn ole' holiday leftovers....lol...or maybe How to decorate rich, rich, rich, when your not, not ,not!!!...looking forward to your responses

I use my DW to clean my oven racks. The oven is 30" wide(75cm). Works in a typical/standard 24" square (60cm square) DW if one tilts the racks on a 45* angle.

If I had a DEDICATED (non-food related) DW I'd use it to clean

bird cage
toilet seat
window blinds
small window screens
garden hose and nozzles
garden tools
vacuum cleaner parts

Toggles...wouldn't the sani-cycle clean these items and sterilize the dishwasher also, maybe even add a little bleach...

I have an in-law who won't eat at my house because sometimes I give the left overs to the dog on my plates....it's not like they won't get washed in the dishwasher...some people are funny that way...

Pre-Washing

My friend, Linda still pre-washes her dishes before loading them. She would just DIE if she saw how I load my Bosch. Pot and pans only get scraped. I asked her, Do you pre-wash the clothes in the bathtub before putting them in the washer? No responce yet.....Bill....

Dont drink from any strange (unknown/foreign) toilets

~Toggles...wouldn't the sani-cycle clean these items and sterilize the dishwasher also, maybe even add a little bleach...

A girl's gotta have her standards...........

Perhaps there have been dirtier things in my mouth, but I look at it this way: No matter how well-sanitized the toilet is, I'd have a hard time eating or drinking from it.
I'm just not comfortable using the DW as a toilet or a garbage can.

animasinsulinpu

My aunt is a neat freak, and she pretty much washes everything before it goes into the dishwasher. One time me and my partner had them over along with both both of our parents for dinner, and I loaded the dirty dishes right into the Maytag dishwasher with out pre rinsing them or anything, she about died! It was priceless seeing her face when she saw everything dripping inside the dishwasher!

I run all my shelves from the fridge in the dishwasher twice a year.. I never thought about my oven racks... Will have to try that next time I run the clean cycle.

" It was priceless seeing her face when she saw everyth

Some moments are a Kodak moment.

I've never been able to understand the logic behind washing dishes before washing dishes in the dishwasher. It seems to me that the job description of a dishwasher is to wash dishes.

description of a dishwasher is to wash dishes

is that like the Hot Water Heater...doesn't make sense....hot water doesn't need to be heated....maybe i need a Hot Water Cooler....what it should be is a Cold Water Heater....lol

Technically may need to be written as "hot-water heater", indicating with the hyphen that the two words togehter are fuctioning as an adjective to modify the noun following.

In theory and liguistically a hydronic boiler is also a water heater.

~It seems to me that the job description of a dishwasher is to wash dishes.

NO! *SMACK* you are mistaken. A dishwasher is to rinse, santize and dry dishes and store them until they can be put away. Where have you been? *LOL* Remember the primal instinct to play with (the) water is apparently exceedingly diffucult to overcome. (ducks and runs).

I ran all my vacuum cleaner attachment through a light wash today. This included the sani emptor from the Kirby upright. I wasn't sure about washing them in very hot water so I turned the cold water on a little bit to cool the water down. Everything came nice a clean and looking new again.
