Just like on my KitchenAid DD that bit the dust last fall...there are flecks of grease in the tub after the cycle was done..I don't want this one to blow up as I really like it. Should I just have the seal replaced anyway as it is a normal wear part?

just curious...when you got this machine, did you do a thorough cleanout?.....as in taking it all apart and scrubbing everything!

I just got in an absolute filthy NorgeTag, short of taking out the tub, everything got scrubbed, but the agitator doesn't come apart, and there are areas I can't get to, so as I wash more and more hot water loads, these flecks are showing up as they are breaking off...

grease and oil from the tranny usually show up as a ring in the tub or smudges in the machine or on the clothing......

you can always pull the agitator or tub to try and locate where the problem may be....

Open control panel, remove two cabinet clips, disconnect lid switch connector, tilt cabinet forward and pull away from base. What part are you having trouble with?

Some machines may have two screws on the reverse (back) side of the control panel. On the Estate washer I just worked on I pulled the cabinet towards me about an inch or so before lifting the back. That seemed to work.

Sounds like you are good to go. Just open the washer lid on the cabinet, put a hand on the rim nearest you of the cabinet and with the other hand lift the back of the cabinet by the control panel. The control panel has to be "up" for this to work.

Jerry,
If after watching Martin's link on removing the cabinet keep this in mind-

There are rubber-like (not sure of the exact material) strips that run down between the sides of the back panel and the cabinet that act like a gasket between the two pieces. Sometimes they get really tacky and sticky causing the panel and cabinet to act like they're glued together.

Make sure that the machine is pulled away from the wall some.

Once you remove the console screws, lift the console slightly and tilt it back, disconnect the lid switch, then pop the cabinet brackets. The console and back panel of the washer will tilt away slightly from the rest of the machine. If this doesn't happen (while standing in front of the machine) push slightly on the back panel below the console to loosen it from the cabinet. (It will rock back a little bit) If this doesn't happen the cabinet is a BIG PIA to get off.

After that place one of your feet along the front lower edge of the cabinet. Raise the lid slightly so you can get your hand inside the upper front and put your other hand behind the top of the cabinet along the center of the back panel. Rock the cabinet of the machine upwards towards you pulling from the back. As you do this drag the front bottom edge away from the machine. The cabinet should lift right off.

For a machine that's as nice as it is, getting to the insides is amazingly simple. It essentially snaps together with a couple of screws for good measure.

If you still can't get the cabinet off after looking at Martin's link and reading my two-bits --- than my good man give the baby a rest cause it's time to call in the Calvary. ;(

In the meantime-
Have Yourself a Great Day!

Rick
Good luck!!!
