Do you Ironrite?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I found this beauty at a sale last weekend and have it moved in and ready for use. It's an early 60's model 95. It was in a basement corner but after a little cleaning of the cabinet, it's in near-new condition... I don't think it was used much at all - just look at the shine!

Yes I Ironrite

That is one beautiful machine. My model 75 built pre WWII died and I found a model 85 about 300 miles from here in Greensboro NC. I have to say be real careful these guys are a little top heavy and mine has already tipped over and busted the forming board.

I sure love mine since in the catering business I only use cloth napkins

Yes, Indeed

Found a VERY nice model 85 nearby for a dollar. Fetched it home, cleaned him up, a shot of Jubilee for that 'like-new' shine. Made a new pad cover...and no more standing at the ironing board.
Does a GREAT job on my shirts, cuts the time ironing, which gives me more time to play w/ my vacuums and find other things to 'vintage' wash....to 'vintage' iron ~~~ :))
Glad to have an IRONRITE !!!

Greg, that is really a beauty. It looks to be in almost new condition. That is going to be so much fun to use.

Not bad for $5

Mike - now you know there's always room for another orphaned appliance ;-)

The light is attached to the motor housing and wired in series so it's on whenever the motor is running.

This model came with anti-tip guards on the rear frame, I'll have to photo that. You are right about the tipsy tendencies though.

Ironrite like other mangles/rotary ironers went the way of the Dodo by the mid-1960's or so. Ironrite only made ironers so the decline in ironing by housewives really hit them hard, whereas other rotary ironer makers such as Maytag, Frigidaire, Kenmore, Bendix et al had other laundry appliances to fall back on.

Believe it or not, not all women were thrilled with rotary ironers, which accounts for many being found in like new or even MIB condition years later. If one has an efficient system of hand ironing with the proper equipment, it is very easy to go through much ironing faster than with a rotary iron, and with better results.

I have a large ironing table like one sees in old French hand laundries, and because of the size (6' by 4') can easily whip through lots of sheets and such quite quickly.

Greg,
You told me that it was in great condition, but I would have never dreamed it was this nice. Looks as though you just took it out of the box!
I also love your Rapid Advance Kitchenaid washer. Where in the world did you get that one?
Thanks for the pictures.

Very nice Ironrite, Greg! You did mention what nice condition it was in, and I have to agree, it's like new!

I'm also glad to see the basement dried up after the Multitragic incident. Looking at those laundryroom pictures has me drooling again...absolutely CAN'T WAIT to go back next September! :)

Just a thought...

What about if the entire festivities were held at your house? The guestroom in the basement would be perfect for displays, and of course there would be no pesky ballroom surcharge! ;-)

Very Nice

Just shows ya what 5.00 can buy ..What a hell of a investment is history and have fun doing it.
