Oil Changes
Jerry, you may want to pick up some non-flamable brake cleaner and cork gasket at an auto supply store. When I changed the oil on my Ironrite, I cleaned out the gearbox area with the brake cleaner as is disolves the old oil. Just don't spray it on any painted areas as it may take the paint off.
If you're careful you may not need to take the whole top case off your machine. Use a large baking pan to catch the oil and gunk.
Check the gasket on the top of the gearbox too. That is what the cork sheet is for. If your gasket is dried out, brittle or missing, it's very easy to make a new one.
Also, doesn't hurt to check the drive chain on the roller. I think you just take out one screw on the cover and you can hit the chain with a bit of light grease or oil. I use TriFlow oil and grease for my sewing machines and found it to work very well.
