Hey guys,

I brought a few products from the US. Gain liquid detergent ist one of ist. My question is if it is colorsafe. I could not find any information that it would contain brighteners. Can anyone answer me that question? I think when I would live in the US I would only buy Gain as the fragrances please me the most. Unfortunately there is no version for colored laundry. So can someone help? Thanks in advance.

I use it all the time and have yet to notice any kind of fading in my wash.Gets clothes real clean and makes them smell great.

I really fell in love with some of the "Gains". They smell great. Unfortunately only a few are available for front loaders. Most of them still are for toploaders only - too bad.

As a general rule, one should probably assume there are optical brighteners in US detergent. Unless proven otherwise.

The link below has the Proctor and Gamble ingredients. There is a search box that should allow one to narrow to the specific detergent one has.

I did a random check of a couple of Gain detergents. Both apparently have optical brighteners.

Optical Brighteners in Gain and other US detergents

Hi "mrwash" Flo!

If you are using liquid Gain, it probably has optical brighteners, as I do believe all Gain formulas do. I do read P&G's facts sheets. The only Cheer detergents that has no brighteners are the liquid Darks formula, and all powders. Now, however, most every powder P&G detergent has sodium percarbonate, which is "oxi-bleach". ANY continued usage of this bleach surely will cause fading. There are really no US detergents made without optical brighteners other than the Cheer for Darks liquid, which causes high suds so I cannot use it in my Samsung, or Woolite for Darks which I would NEVER use. I favor German Persil Color Gel and Miele Ultra Color powder. Both have NO optical brighteners, and perform far better than the Cheer! They smell different from all other detergents, and are not heavy scented like many ethnic groups love. Besides, they make minimal suds and are HE formula. Those are expensive, but for my pickiness, they are worth it! I am so fussy, that using any optical brighteners DOES have a dulling-effect on colored wash! I notice everything!
