My washing machine (Miele Little Giant) is making a strange "clicking" sound during the spin cycle. Miele tech at first tells me it is the drain pump. On the next visit, he decides it is not the drain pump after all since he cannot recreate the sound when testing without laundry. His next guess is that it needs new friction dampers, which he says are essentially shocks. This is a low mileage machine (less than 1000 operating hours). Does any of this make sense? It sounds like guessing...

Link to the noise the machine is making is below.

Just a thought

Is it possible that something has gone between the drums and is ticking while rotating? Do you hear the noise when you turn the drum by hand ? Oh and unable to hear your issue in the dropbox....!

Sorry about the dropbox failure. It plays for me when I click on the link, and I thought I created a public link, but I guess something went wrong. I will try once more...

As the spinning slows, the "clicking" noise goes away. Certainly no fugitive clothes could have gotten stuck.

I am mystified. I can compare the machine to its historical self (it did not always make this loud clicking sound), and to another Little Giant I have, which does not make the noise, so definitely something wrong. I am concerned that the Miele tech seems to be doing a lot of guessing.

The cons of having a professional machine.

Having owed a PW5065 machine, they are loud. Every squeak and rattle etc is multiplied in that empty shell. Not one bit of sound proofing.

To me it sounds like My W5873 when there is one item inside.
My W5873 is quiet when it is fully loaded and I have it installed on a wooden floor (It can really vibrate at times).

I hope you and your tech can find the problem.

The clicking has a rhythm to it due to the brief pause between the series of clicks.  That may provide a clue, and I would think the spinning drum could be ruled out, as it would be revolving at a constant speed.
