Hi all :

Back from the sticky East Coast to find that the house sitter broke the temperature knob on the 1-18 dryer. To say that I'm annoyed would be a gross understatement.

Where do I start?......does someone still make this part. Model is DEC-56, some here told me it's a 1979.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking a Firing Squad Ralph.....

or maybe a burning at the stake......yeah, we haven't done one of those in a while!....

personally I'd rip her tits off like she did to that knob...

otherwise, are these knob specific as positions, or would one off a 1-18 washer work?

Rob, after last Friday's 114 degree temp do you really need a heat selector knob? The "air fluff" setting should be just fine for the remainder of the summer, especially with the 120+ days that July and August will probably bring.

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS

Hi All:

The house sitter is gone, the dog (big German Shepard....Timber) is not happy.

The house sitter was a he .

Firing squad is to good for him.

Will try gluing the knob, ...the knob on the dryer is stuck on high heat (have not install my clothes line yet...still in garage)

I don't know about you guy's but I'm really pissed.....over a 34 year old knob...boy have I got this collecting bug bad.

Thanks to all

OUCH!

This had to suck to come home to. If the housesitter was being careless then a trip through a large Hobart dishwasher(after 800 meals have been served and without changing the water) is in order. Otherwise some forgiveness is needed. LOL! (never put anyone in a dishmachine. The results would be lethal)

Have you tried the Rosanne method of lowering the cycle temp? (Use pliers to turn the knob?) Or is it one of those kind of knobs where the shaft of the knob extends down into the control panel to make contact with the switch?
