Quite literally happened as the title states.

Was driving on my usual route home from work and was passing through a suburb of Derby.

I have only recently changed my route to this one, as its more scenic than the ring road.

Anyways - I had recently noticed a small independent appliance and spare parts shop. I have been meaning to pop in, but am generally more desperate to get home and relax.

But Friday was different!

On approaching his shop, I noticed three machines parked outside and the machine I bought still had the sack truck wedged underneath it, so had only been recently delivered to the shop.

It was sat alongside a Candy from the early 2000s and a Zanussi dryer in white, which matched the Aquacycle washing machine that came with the house when i first moved to Derby - the ones with the orange on/off round button.

Anyways the third machine (the one i bought) instantly grabbed my attention, so i pulled in down the next side road and went to have a gander.

I popped in and engaged the bloke in conversation - real friendly chap - before popping the quesion as to what he would want money wise for the Servis outside.

His words were along the lines of 'those machines are for scrap and are just awaiting collection'. Pushed further and money was exchanged - scrap value.

So here is our new scrap washing machine.............a Servis 3305 Electronic 1000 Plus:

Dont worry, it does come complete with powder drawer, but these initial shots were taken after rob had swiped it for a quick spring clean.

Truth be told the drawer was immaculate and cleaning made little or no difference to the already pristine plastic.

Piccy below shows the faintly daft, as far as I am concerned full door arrangement of this final series of proper Servis'.

Produced a clean finish to the style, but is just wayyyyy too big.

My grandma has a Servis Sapphire 1300, which lives in a galley kitchen, and which effectively closes the kitchen when being loaded and unloaded as you cant get past without loads of faff.

I dont begrudge it that much though and am really pleased with it...

The only area of muckyness in the powder drawer area was on the roof of the drawer tube, which was mouldy as you can glimpse in this shot (has since been cleaned)....

reunited with the powder drawer and, with hardly any cleaning done at all, the machine is looking pretty much as good as the day is was first installed (where ever that was)...

Literally the only blemish on an otherwise pristine facia is where the years of door releasing has rubbed off some of the 12 dots from that one button. Otherwise its immaculate...
