It never rains, but it pours... For YEARS there has been next to nothing in the way of vintage major appliances turning up in the Montreal region, but for some reason the floodgates opened up this year!
This is a sampling of what is torturing me locally...
First - the non-Maytag find; an early 70s Harvest Gold and Wood-panelled Inglis dryer. Price: free

Now into the multitude of Maytags... First up, a DE701. Looks pretty nice and not too unreasonable at $100 (I wound up paying $120 for mine). BUT, I do already have this model, so I passed.

This one caught my eye - the style is pretty cool. Kind of a cross between the DE701 and a DE306-style machine. I like the control panel of this one. Price: $40.

Woody dryer

Hope you picked up the Inglis dryer. Can't beat the price, and it's certainly one of the most rare models, with the woodgrain front. I think this has the 2-way door that can open down or to the side. Not sure how long they made these, but have seen a Whirlpool ad from '68 that showed one.

FREE!!!....what part of peddle your SWEET ASS over there to get it, someone is bound to want it....someone else will grab it and sell it for a high price

this just happened here, a Maytag set was given away for FREE, was missed by another member, today it's on CL for $200.00....I know its the same, has the slight scratch on the front panel of the washer.....

It's a fairly simple model - three drying options on the timer dial (no 'automatic' drying on this one). As ushual, I tested the various components before hooking it up to the 220 juice. The time worked fine, the motor and blower were strong, BUT... there was a really nasty scraping or rubbing sound as the the drum turned. I was a little nervous now - was it bad bearings or a bad pulley??

It was neither! I foolishly did not take a 'before' picture, but the drum was VERY off-centre. I don't know why this was the case, but with a little tinkering (OK, I will admit it - I was working on hunches and instinct), I managed to get it centred again. Imagine if you can the drum actually touching the 'halo' area around the door!!

Congrats on the DE306. If the motor is original to the machine, it's an early 06 HOH dryer. I'm kind of curious if I'm correct, so if you could post the serial #, that would great!

I dug out an nos timer dial and NOS buttons for your 206 sometime ago. I got busy and completley forgot about them, sorry. I have a few spare door knobs for the 06 dryers if you want one of those too.
