Gotta do the same with my dryer...and apparently not only 
Actually, It suddenly stopped working last Thursday while drying a small dark load, it was almost dried when suddenly the drum stopped tumbling and motor started to hum....
I can hear the blower working but no drum rotation and no slipping belt noises, I had a surgery and could not make efforts to detach the front panel to see what is going on, until yesterday...
I could spot a very worn belt, but looks like the problem is not the belt and apparently it does not slip..... Gotta admit I am bit worried because the motor sounds like lost part of it's power and got weak....
Before opening a thread to ask suggestions I want to see if it's only an impression I have and it's just the belt, I could read that whenever motor loose it's power it could be the capacitor which I think it is easy thing to replace...
If the problem is the motor itself, well, then I think I better buy a new one or used one because parts over here are so expensive (I usually buy them online or have them shipped by someone from US to save) but you know, apart the motor it is also time to do a complete checkup and manteniance and replace sliders, felts, eventually blower and the filter that has a small crack on it's corner, so it would cost me as much as getting another one,I could see a NIB whirlpool gas dryer for 400 euros ( a big deal considering here in the shops costs about 1000 euros) which is about what all parts and new motor unit would cost me in toto to get it in perfect conditions again....this is an eventuality I do not really want though, because I'd love to keep a matched set... So i hope it is nothing serious...
Let's wait to see what it got before worrying about... I'll start replacing the belt and see, then if not working will replace the capacitor.... Then if still not working does not have sense to continue further with motor and naturally will not order the other parts... And will simply buy a new one (hoping that the NIB whirlpool is still on sale).
That sucks because it is not a great moment for me financially speaking, I am not broke but trying to save to attend a big rave in Holland in June (Q-dance- Defqon1)...and then I have some debts on condo bills...
What is nice though is that in these days weather is exceptionally warm and sunny ( today we had 21 degrees!!!!!!!) and can dry out on the clothesline...
At least not everything is going wrong....
