First of all, my dryer was beginning to look a little sad. Laundry appliances here don't always enjoy the climate controlled protection that their mainland cousins have. The constant assalt of salt air, cane fire soot and gecko poop had taken a toll. All I really needed to do was the main top, which I could have simply redone in boring ass white, but what fun would that be?
I have had severe pink dryer envy ever since my visit with Robert last summer and seeing the lovely pank Lady Kenmore set. My chances of ever finding a dryer of that era here is slim. There were just not a lot of dryers here in Hawai'i during that time as they were then considered a luxury. If there were any, rust has long since eaten them.
So it's not vintage but it makes me quite happy to have a pink dryer. I think pretty dryers dry better than plain ones. I hope Bethann likes it! (Hi Sweetie!)
I used a special paint for the plastic parts, and recoated the main top with clear coat for extra protection. I would have liked to do the control panel, but did not want the humbug of redoing all the graphics, so I settled for a "parfait" look. I didn't bother doing the sides.
Now what to do about that ugly washer...
