Never seen anything like this before!

I had a pair of jeans today that just needed a bit of a refresh. Thought to myself, I would just throw them in the dryer with one of those Lenor April Fresh (P&G) dryer sheets that I got like four years ago but never used since they hardly leave any scent behind. Well, since the sheets were that old and practically did nothing whenever I tried one, I took two, moistened them and put them in with the jeans on a 20-minute high-heat cycle (18 min heating, 8 min cooling).

BIG MISTAKE!

What can I say? The drum came easily clean with a damp microfibre cloth but it was gross! Not to mention how waxy the pants felt… And the fabulous thing about it: everything was scented but the fabric! *oy* I have tried these sheets before and they worked… well, the didn’t leave a visible film. That was one sheet per load. But the fact that two of them left such a heavy amount of wax in the dryer is rather something.

Well It Would Wouldn't It

If one poured an excessive amount of liquid fabric softener into a rinse cycle the affect would likely be the same. Then there is the ratio of fabric softener (two sheets worth) versus one pair of jeans, there simply wasn't anything else for the dryer sheets to do but tumble about and coat the inside of your dryer.

Ran a small towel and a rag soaked in Downy Simple Pleasures through the same cyle. Surprisingly, the rag came out pratically dry - it was dripping before. The drum is waxy where the rag touched it and the pure softener dried onto the drum. The door glass is clean, though (it was coated when using sheets). The dryer also smells far less scented than with the sheets. The towel is very soft and just slightly waxy - one couldn't tell if not knowing that I dried it with such a heavy amount of softener. And it smells nice, which the dryer sheets couldn't do.

Will post pics when I get back home.

I never recommended use of these fire hazards. They have a wax that closes the pours to clog in lint traps and make heat build up and cause fires.
