OK, got a challenge for you. Kenmore electronic 90 dryer from '96. The the lint filter in the door. 110.76954690 Problem was/is it would run for 20-30-40 minutes then cut out. As it got to the point of cutting out I'd hear a vibration or something get progressively louder then it would stall. This got progressively worse over 6-8 months, mostly with heavy loads, till at the end any load would stall it. decided it was the motor. I replaced it, and the blower since the original had rusted on the motor shaft.

Got a new motor on eBay, put it in and powered it up and all seemed well. Then about 20 minutes into the cycle it just stopped, no vibration just dead -- panel still lit. Opened the door and it seemed a bit warm, let it cool down a bit and it started right up. It ran for about 20 minutes longer, then the rattle/vibration returned and it stalled -- I could hear the motor straining, then it over heated and I heard the "click" of the cut out. I can rotate the drum easily, no binding

Dryers are not that complex. When I had it apart I lubed the rollers, all moved easily. Belt was fine, no noticeable wear, tension roller moved freely too.

So what did I miss? Luck of the draw and another bad motor?

It might be a bad thermostat, if its getting too warm, the back up thermostat should at least shut the heater off if not the whole dryer. Perhaps it shuts it off until the dryer has a chance to cool down and reset that thermostat.

Great minds think alike- I pulled the blower cover off and checked, it's fine.

My next attempt will be to remove the blower housing completely and run it on the air setting. Perhaps I can hear of see something acting up, or if not it will point me to the burner/thermostats.
