Dryer?

I remember as a child my great aunt had a dryer that had a round lint filter that fit inside the door. I can't remember the brand. Would it have been Speed Queen? Or were there others that used this type filter? Tim

I am not sure about others but I know that Maytag had filters just like that too. They were about 8 or 10 inches round

No, Maytag filters were not in the door. I do not know what time period you are talking about, but if the round filter was within the metal door and was very wide and made of metal, it was probably an early Speed Queen dryer. Did it by any chance have to be accessed from a round section of the outer door? That's early SQ. If the filter was not exactly round because of the handle on the side, lifted out of an inner compartment in the door and had a plastic frame with a Dacron mesh filter, that was probably a 62 or newer Frigidaire. The Speed Queen dryer with all of that metal screen and frame in that metal compartment sometimes dripped condensate from the lint filter compartment onto the floor as the steamy air hit the cooler metal. Consumer Reports did not like that.

No problem. Those Maytag Halo of Heat dryer drums were so shallow the filter was close enough to the door to cause confusion. The pre-HOH dryers had huge drums, DEEP and WIDE, a big gray drum back and a perforated drum wall.

Tom, the Halo-of-Heat was maybe confusing to someone who was aggrivated by LSD, Herion, or the likes, however, in todays world, MY Halo-of-Heat is at best the most simplistic dryer one could use. Try a DE606.
