DVD by mail from Netflix is cancelling in September

Hi to those few who still watch DVD's or BluRay by mail from Netflix. Heard a couple of days ago that the service is being cancelled after 25 years. I like the service because the DVD catalog is much larger than the streaming catalog. Like about 10 times larger.

Also you could usually get a fairly new release. Many new releases are streamed but for about $19. I did not have the service for all 25 years. I used Blockbuster, then Hollywood Video, then Redbox. Also have had Netflix off and on for various shows, like Alias. We use Amazon Prime on and off also. For stuff like Bosch. Amazon Prime has a huge catalog if you include the movies that you have to pay extra for.

I do not buy DVD's and prefer to rent or stream. Also could use the Library but the online to get DVD's is not well done and difficult to use. Also they are very slow with new releases.

I have not been to a Theater for about 7 years (to see Jason Bourne) so I enjoy the new releases at home but don't want to pay $19 or more. Redbox seems to have less all the time and is not as easy as DVD by mail, with this you only have to go to the Post office to return the Discs. Just one more thing that I like that is going away!

I heard about this yesterday.  I wasn’t even aware that Netflix still sent DVD’s thru the mail anymore, I thought that ended when they went to streaming.

 

 We don’t even have a DVD player anymore.  But I can certainly relate to your unhappiness about the discontinuing of Netflix DVD’s by mail.  It’s MUCH cheaper than paying $19 to watch a new release.  We just wait until they are either free or not more than $4.99.  The last movie we saw in a theater was 1917 before the beginning of the Pandemic.

 

We much prefer watching movies in the comfort of our own living room.

I heard about it a few days ago.  143 discs in the queue.  Only four are (currently) available via Netflix streaming, I haven't checked if any are on other streaming services.

Same here, I thought they nixed that service many years ago. I've never used a streaming service and haven't had a TV in years. F- the propaganda driven idiot box.
