Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Fantastic find

And a suds saver, too. That's one I've decided I want -- either a Maytag or Whirlpool/Kenmore suds saver.

Thanks for sharing. And good luck.

WOW Matt...

....... that is AWESOME! I would LOVE to have that one... of course, now that I already have TWO 806's!!! LOL

Can you post clear close-ups of the controls?

Thanks!
Kevin

Even has a tub light, is that really necessary?

YES!!!! :)

1975-1980. Matches the sun glow 08 series dryer control panels.

$450 is high unless you went through them both, cleaning and lubricating all of the lubrication points and making sure there are no leaky or torn seals. I got my set for $100 and I live in the highest price gouging area of the USA. I've missed a couple of 806's that were free.

If people (buyers) knew the quality they were getting, they would say that $450 was the bargain of the century, compared to the crap today that costs over $1000.

Nice set - but odd. Some research would be required to validate this - but IIRC the gold panels debuted on the revised 02 series washers and Big Load dryers (dryer pictured is a HOH). Also, I think gold panel machines came out in 1975. Another sign that the washer is later is the model tag under the lid. What is the serial number on both - this would help to understand when they were made.

I mention this because the lighted wash tub stopped around/by 1973 - making it a bit odd that this would still have a lighted wash tub - near the time they removed the chrome strip along the front of the machine/s.

Both machines look nice but be careful when offering items for sale - Philip's advice is wise.

I forget the date on my light almond DE806 dryer but it has the aluminum dial, gold panel of course AND 4 buttons for extra dryness.

Hey Cadman - if your lighted panel dryer has 4 buttons, it'd be a Big load DE808 ;-)

Kenny - I was thinking the same thing. Very strange to see a HOH 806 dryer with the aluminum dial. A first for me!

Matt - do you have serial numbers available on these?

I'm sure you all saw the thread, but I brought home this LA806 (series 2) - LDE808 pair home a couple weeks ago. I'm told they were built in 1980. The dryer has four buttons, confirming what Ben said.

And this one...

... is an A806 (series 1) built in Dec 1975 and does not have the tub light (boo hoo!). Oh, it also has the model tag under the lid.

Matt, can you post the exact model, series and serial numbers for both the washer and dryer please??

Thanks!
Kevin

Temp question for Maytag experts:

Not that anybody would do a cold wash with a warm rinse, but I am curious. Since the wash and rinse temps can be selected independently, did selecting a cold wash automatically guarantee a cold rinse, or did the user still have the flexibility of selecting a warm rinse. I know this sounds silly, and I should know the answer, but I thought I would ask. Thank you in advance.

Have a good one,
James

It would be interesting to see how the Halo of Heat was able to surround the much larger dryer opening of the one on this post. Perhaps when the door opened, the opening was in fact reduced in size for the dryer opening that contained the halo of heat front heat drying method?
I just don't see how this could be a halo of heat dryer.
