Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hey Cadman - if your lighted panel dryer has 4 buttons, it'd be a Big load DE808 ;-)

Kenny - I was thinking the same thing. Very strange to see a HOH 806 dryer with the aluminum dial. A first for me!

Matt - do you have serial numbers available on these?

I'm sure you all saw the thread, but I brought home this LA806 (series 2) - LDE808 pair home a couple weeks ago. I'm told they were built in 1980. The dryer has four buttons, confirming what Ben said.

And this one...

... is an A806 (series 1) built in Dec 1975 and does not have the tub light (boo hoo!). Oh, it also has the model tag under the lid.

Matt, can you post the exact model, series and serial numbers for both the washer and dryer please??

Thanks!
Kevin

Temp question for Maytag experts:

Not that anybody would do a cold wash with a warm rinse, but I am curious. Since the wash and rinse temps can be selected independently, did selecting a cold wash automatically guarantee a cold rinse, or did the user still have the flexibility of selecting a warm rinse. I know this sounds silly, and I should know the answer, but I thought I would ask. Thank you in advance.

Have a good one,
James

It would be interesting to see how the Halo of Heat was able to surround the much larger dryer opening of the one on this post. Perhaps when the door opened, the opening was in fact reduced in size for the dryer opening that contained the halo of heat front heat drying method?
I just don't see how this could be a halo of heat dryer.

Did a cold wash automatically give a cold rinse, or can you

James, on the 806... with the separate buttons for "cold rinse" or "warm rinse"... YES you can have a COLD wash with a WARM rinse!! I tried it and it will work!

Hey Matt - I just noticed the serial numbers. The washer wouldn't have come from the factory with a lighted tub. If by chance it does I suspect that someone added it then at a later date.

Dryer - September of 1975
Washer - October of 1975

You are right Scott, these really are at the very end of the HOH run. Just a few months later the Big Load came out.

Now wait a minute, Kidz!

Just out of curiosity I went into the basement to check out an old 806 washer that I have in storage. It looks identical to the ones posted with the gold control panel, but has a tub light. It is very early in production due to the bleach dispenser that only says "bleach", not "liquid beach only", and the water level buttons have "normal" and "large", not "large load" and "extra large load". If memory serves me right, only the very early gold panel 806's were available in suds saver models. Everythingold's 806 tub light must be legit!
