aquarius8000...

You beat me to it to making an eBay thread! And that 9335 lol.

The above machine is an Electra, not Servis, as it was made from a Creda.

As for eBay beauties you missed one...

A Servis 9700 washer dryer!!!

I don't think Hotpoint collaborated with Servis over their washer dryers. Servis had fully developed their range at that time and Hotpoint was just entering with their initial 9900 model. Servis did use Merloni Indesit models in their range, and they themselves made an Electra 9900E model (not the same as Hotpoint's 9900) Electra machines were made from both Hotpoint and Servis, but we never saw a Hotpoint branded Servis or vice versa.

Supermaticjames,

Having not seen the insides of a Servis washer dryer to any extent of comparison I cannot remember what the blower and heater arrangement are like but it is a possibility Servis could of sourced the blower assembly from Hotpoint or whomever made them as an actual component. Servis machines did actually have infact Hotpoint motors fitted made by GEC although the info label said Servis.

For the record Servis washer dryers didnt start to appear until the new 1986 range and were actually sourced from Antonio Merloni whom had nothing to do with Indesit. They were the Companion models, similar to the Servis Rainwaves of later years ironically.

Hotpoint had their 9900 washer dryer on the market in 1985 12 months at least before Servis had the Companions so possibly had the production plans and designs years ahead of the "true" "full panel door" Servis built Washer-Dryers that came about around 1988 to 1991

sorry I got my facts mixed up...

I initally thought that Servis made washer dryers before Hotpoint as I looked at this brochure, it was on this thread but I can't find it now. There were several pages, and one of them featured an Indesit washer dryer, can't remember if this was a servis branded one or not, I made my assumption on that. Seeing as the Hotpoint 9900 wasn't in it, I thought it hadn't been made at that point, I thought it was made more later 1985 and ended by early 1986 with the introduction of the "Next Generation" models.

One thing I wanted to know, is it true that the first washer dryers (Colston, Bendix) were simply heater operated, but by the mid 80's fan heated drying was used? (Candy and Zanussi had adverts talking about their washer dryers being more efficient in their drying cycles?)
