Need to cull my detergent stock as much that is surplus to requirements. So am offering the following:

Ecolab Solid Super Star Detergent
1 Full Canister
1 Half Full Canister

This detergent is meant for commerical linen laundries and is POWERFUL stuff. Mainly STPP (phosphates), Sodium Carbonate (washing soda), and Surfactant, one only needs a small amount to clean the most soiled of wash loads.

Designed to be used with Ecolab's dispenser system, and used in top loading and "homestyle" washing machines. After finding out the proper ratio for commercial use (not an easy feat as Ecolab wouldn't play nice, finally had to spend hours on Google); 3-5 grammes cleans well in my 11lb front loader, and one probably would only need a max of 10 grammes in the largest of top loaders. I weigh out dosage using a small coffee can scoop onto a piece of wax paper, then bung the amount into the detergent dispenser drawer.

This detergent is very low foaming, in fact the first few times I thought my wash was not going to be clean as the water draining after the wash cycle had no foam. But, that was wrong as the detergent got out everything. If one uses too much it will however create lots of suds that will take much rinsing to remove. I know this because the initial wash loads with this product I dosed at full coffee scoops and Whooo-Nellie! Boy there were suds.

This product does contain scent, which Ecolab describes as "light floral". If one over doses the scent will be strong, but much goes away after items are dried. Still can smell the scent, but that may because I line dry, not sure about line drying.

Anyone interested please make me an offer, sadly because of the cost (took an entire case), cannot "give" away. Shipping might be pricey as the canisters weigh about 5lbs full. Email is fine of one wants privacy.

WARNING:
One must NEVER allow the undiluted concentrate detergent to come in contact with skin. If skin contact does occur, the affected area must be cleaned with soap and water at once! This was the only bit of advice Ecolab would give out. I use washing up gloves whenever handling/dosing this detergent, and goes without saying to keep out wee one's and pets reach.

Never used it on "darks" as have a bottle of Cheer HE have been trying to use up as well. After that have several bottles of Miele FEWA that must be used, so you can see why I never bothered! *LOL*

From what one has been able to read about Solid Super Star, the detergent is mainly for commercial laundries that do table and bed linens. It is designed to handle "greasy/oily" soils, which the surfactant and sodium carbonate do quite well. STPP/phosphates soften water, keep soils away from laundry and all the other good things that substance is known for. In all honesty the only reason one purchased this product was because it contained STPP. Ecolab did state this product cannot be sold legally anymore in several states, including New York. Perhaps because of the phosphates?

Probaly would clean as well as it does on whites and colours, but not sure how it would affect black or other dark coloured items.

Oh forgot to mention, SSS does NOT contain bleaching agents or enzymes. One will need to add these agents on their own if desired. I have tons of Spray n Wash "Pink" oxy-bleach so that wasn't a problem.

Yes, laundry phosphates are illegal in several states, including New York, at least for residential use. There may be exemptions for institutional and commercial use (read, prisons/hospitals/restaurants/hotels/laundries/etc...). State and local laws vary. In some cases it's simply illegal to sell the stuff in residential type products. In others it may be illegal for a resident to use it.

Use your own good judgement :-). Remember, body wastes contain as much if not more phosphates as the typical effluent from a phosphated laundry room.

Ecolab only sells to commercial laundries, so must assume the ban in NYS applies to those laundries as well.

FWIW NYS/NYS have been in a long battle with the federal government over builing new sewage/water filtration plants, so maybe that has something to do with things.

Ecolab does make a phosphate free version of this detergent, which is available to NYS.

I have lots of STPP (I bought several 50 lb sacks a few years back) so I don't see the point of trying yet another phosphated detergent - although I am keeping my eyes peeled for Ariel Bajaespuma to finally show up in mexican markets here. Meanwhile my mix of STPP and Sears HE works quite well, better than any other laundry detergent I've tried. Other than sudsing, I think one surfactant is pretty much like another.
