Tax Rebate

President Bush said each one of us would get a tax rebate soon.

Now, if we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to
China, if we spend it on computers, most of the money will go to
Korea or India. If we spend it on gasoline it will all go to the Arabs
.....and none of these scenarios will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America .....so the
only way to keep that money here at home is to drink beer, gamble,
or spend it on prostitution.

Currently it seems that these are the only businesses still left in the U.S.

The check is an advance on what will be lower taxes (one time only) for 2008. The tax tables have been adjusted (I think on the first $10,000) so that everyone will pay less taxes than previous years. It has NO effect on any refunds or amount due normally. There will be a line for it on our 2008 tax returns to adjust for anyone that deserves the rebate but did not get the check. (i.e. If you did not earn enough or too much in 2007 but did in 2008.)

I must say that I find it surprising that some people are complaining about receiving money. And as for blaming the president- the Democrats were just as anxious about this rebate. They only wish that one of their names was on the letter. It is after all an election year.

Ah, one-time tax rate adjustment. IIRC, that's what was done the previous time.

As for spending mine, it'll go into the account and be used for regular expenses such as the house payment (whoosh, it's spent) ... not for anything special. I quit buying much "special" a year ago when I lost the day job. I received a $50 Amazon certificate for Christmas and still haven't used it because it feels more valuable to keep it, LOL.

I'll either bank it, or buy another year of earthquake home insurance coverage (well, it will cover about 1/2 the cost)...

Otherwise, it's already spent. Got my first personal cell phone yesterday, along with Bluetooth earpiece.

Now all I have to do is to finish my taxes. I know approximately how much they will be, just have to sift through receipts to get more exact figures.

My dentist just tole me

I will be spending my stimulus money on a root cannal and new crown. Which translates to: I'm buying him the sunroof option on his new Mercedes.

Yeah, a new crown set me back about a grand last year. No dental coverage, either. But I think I won't need any more major dental work for a few years. I should have had it done the previous year - combined with my COBRA payments and my partial wages it might actually have been tax deductable. But the dentist wanted to wait. He wants me to get twice yearly teeth cleanings, which I refused. Once a year is more than enough, esp with no coverage.

If you wanna buy something...

...buy a US manufactured product.

REALLY they do exists.

OB Automatic Washer topic: Why, Whirlpool dryers are made in Ohio.

$1000 for a crown?

Yikes! I don't have dental insurance, so I go to the local dental school. The care is excellent, the prices are too. $350 for a porcelain crown.

Buy American

Gonna buy some new Wesco jobmaster workboots, made in USA, not cheap, but worth it. Wonder where we are borrowing the money from?
