Hey kids

Just stumbled across this cool video of an Electrolux EcoLogic top loader that has a solid tub and throws it water over the top like a vintage machine.

Very cool.

I guess the EcoLogic factor maybe because it doesn't fill the outer tub just the inner tub so you save that proportion of water that would be in the outer tub as well.

Its a good idea!

Enjoy

I'd like to see solid tub washers with a traditional agitator in the American market, but it probably doesn't save enough water to get an Energy Star qualification. The water-saving multiple spray/extraction rinsing procedure wouldn't work with a solid tub.

It was fun to see a 21st century interpretation of this vintage design. Thanks for sharing the video, Matt!

Aside: Boy, Electrolux sure does love its white plastic, doesn't it? The new Immersion Care top-loader (Frigidaire brand) is the only impeller-based machine I've seen without a stainless steel tub.

I think the slow take off and pauses of the spin contribute to the clothes staying near the bottom, keeping the load even all the way around, and center of gravity for potential out of balance issues....
