Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Haha

Hi Kenneth I might be tempted to look for another dryer as they do pop up regularly. They also made the later version with blue accents. Never mind being a PITA i through every swear word at it when re assembling lol

Hi Richard and thanks. I can't look for another - I am committed! I have spent a fortune on it and had it powder coated in 50's Duck Egg Green and painted everything else myself with Genolite; 2 coats of Galvafroid; motor overhauled; contactor installed; new wiring; new belts; new door spring - and all ready except the wretched elements. I can't divorce yet - - !!

Surely someone, somewhere has the physics to wind new coils?!

Btw - I, too, have a couple of New World gas ranges for re-build, including a 50's Radiation - shouldn't think I shall ever do them now!

He says to email him and you can discuss what needs to be done, hope it works out, looking forward to seeing the finished dryer !!

His name is Mark Hill , email: [email protected]

ENGLISH ELECTRIC LIBERATOR TUMBLE DRY 8973

Hi Mike - Mark has been extremely helpful indeed and has tried to explain to me electrical resistance! The heater elements blowing were all my fault from a lack of understanding that they had been wired in series and I assumed parallel - and the fact that you had not sent me the wiring schematic at that point. Consequence - a large welding flash, a buggered set of elements and a tripped MCB!!

I am still learning from my mistakes!

Mark is very kindly about to re-wire them - parallel - to which I seem to have a natural affinity - haha.

Thank you very much for your help and I am most grateful to you and everyone who has offered splendid advice.

Best wishes,
Kenneth.

Hi - am I in the right place for Hoovers - as in vacuums? Just been servicing my 50's Junior (going beautifully now!) and wondered (as the gold paint has flaked off) if these were ever produced in polished ali - like the two 30's Seniors I have were?

Does anyone know if decals are produced for this model - can't find anything on the internet?

Best wishes,

Kenneth

The answer is no, they were not - the front part painted gold and the rear brown Bakelite, with the large orange foot switch - US members who collect vacuums will know this as the Hoover 115. This model also pre-dates the use of the famous Hoover roundel although I think I have seen some later production of this model with this on the bag. The later, but very similar, 1224 had the from painted cream with the brown Bakelite back painted bright blue. It did use the roundel on the belt cover
