Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

OMG!!!

The whirlpool is the exact machine that my Mom had. When she replaced it (I was 8 yrs old), I heard her say to my Dad that "well, that was pretty good, We got that in "58 and it lasted 12 yrs, and with the six kids, I think we got our money out of it".

But when she replaced it, it was not dead, it went to my next to oldest brother as a "wedding gift" and his wife got another good 5-6 years out of it.

Congratulations on the two washers, and what great finds they are.

The Maytag I would guess is from 1972 or thereabouts. The Whirlpool is definitely an early to mid 1960s model. Both look pristine

Have a good one,
James

Heck of a score on that A107!

Keep the shipping ring!! It enables you move other Maytags on their side/back during transportation. It also allows you to keep the tub centered while replacing the brake package or adjusting the stop lug.

Aug of 1974 is the correct birth date.

Very cool - what a great find! There was a '66 A406 in Coppertone at an appliance store in South Omaha a few years ago that had a similar story. Her kids bought it for her and she refused to hook it up and continued to use her wringer until they carter her off in a box. Her loss I suppose but the store it was in refused to sell it.

Congrats on two great washer finds!

Your Whirlpool was made prior to 1966, I believe. My mother had one that was very similar, except I think it was the next model up. Hers was also had chrome where the blue is at on yours. You'll want to be extra careful with that machine, Yogitunes. Parts are harder to find on those than they would be on your Maytag. Best of luck, and enjoy!

I couldn't help myself, had to hook up the Maytag and do a few, more like ten loads, at first a little scratchy sound and within seconds smoothed right out and super quiet, you have to be next to it to make sure its running, I never seen one this silent, the agitator does not have the hold down screw, just reach under the base and pull up...the fill port on this one is near the eleven o clock position, further back than most, but the out of balance piece is centered, odd, I used a union and replaced the original drain hose, that mug is 7 foot long, I would have thought all of the hoses would have been dry rotted, the brake is tight, there's no movement while agitating, I'm just excited, never seen a new one up close and running, and that round motor is unique, only one speed, and a powerful pump compared to the newer ones I have seen, almost lifts out of the laundry tub like a rocket, and really throws the water up and over in the tub during the beginning of the spin, my DC set doesn't even do that....

as for the Whirlpool, just needed the belt tightened, and replaced the filter hose like I said earlier, clean and shiny, just needs scrubbed down inside and under the rim, they must have had iron in the well water, you can see a tint on the tub, and I always loved those filters of any machine out there.....

and if I can figure out how to do videos, I will post them and let you know, we should be able to do them on here, just a thought....I wanted to save the shipping ring, but was thrown in trash before I got there, darn it, some people don't know the value, but happy just the same, who are we kidding, I'm grinning ear to ear, I hope this wears off....lol

thanks for the reply guys.....and keep looking, you never know what will turn up....who knew?

WHAT A SCORE!

Anyone who can reject a Maytag to spite the giver of the gift is a cold fish.

COosidering they were about a week's pay that was SOME gift!

Toggles.....

You have no idea, that giver is the most generous lady I have ever met, we are related thru the marriage, and we called her "Auntie"...she traveled the world and always sent little gifts and post cards, even to me, always a xmas card from around the world, and would tell fantastic stories of the people she met, but you can't imagine how mean the receiver was to her, and she didn't hide it either, most of the family on that side was also, but when she was gone, they were all fighting for what they wanted of her estate, that's just the way it is sometimes, so this machine is kinda special to me, like a gift from heaven, from her, to be really thankful and treasured, and added to my collection....thanks for letting me babble, there are some great people on this world and beyond, and you guys are part of it!

Great finds! Glad you found these two machines. (or maybe they found you) <:
