My vac has the Vibra-Groomer III powerhead, and I need to get it apart to clean it. There are some threads wrapped around the brushroll I want to remove, and I'd also like to wash the brush strips - are they removable from the roll? I can't find the manual for it, and don't want to mess it up. Any advice will be appreciated.

The vibra groomer 3 brush roll.... What an amazing power nozzle. That is hands down the best brush roll design ever!

I use an exacto knife to clean my brush rolls, The brush strips on a vibra groomer 3 come out. The caps of the brush roll pop off, and you slide the brush strips off. Pretty simple.

Ive got a set of spare vibra groomer 3 brush strips, but have never found the brush roll itself. Someday I hope to find one!

Brandon, thanks for the info. I now see how the brush strips will slide out of the roll, but I still haven't figured out how to get the powerhead open to remove the brushroll. This is the model with automatic carpet height adjustment, edge & corner cleaner, and power view.
I agree it does do an excellent job of cleaning, especially with the very strong suction this vac provides.

Ill try and see if I can find a manual for the machine it came with. What vacuum do you use with it?

Maybe if you post a picture of the bottom, I can see if I can figure it out.

:)

Two screws on the bottom side of the powerhead should come out (black screws maybe 1.5" long) and then the top/lid of the powerhead should come off. Lift from the back side of the powerhead and open it like the hood of a car. It's been a long time since I've taken one of those apart... then I think once the hood is off of the powerhead, you can take the brushroll out.

It's apart

Finally got the powerhead apart, and the brushroll out. This brushroll is different than what I've seen on Eureka uprights - while it has a groove in the center for a belt, this one has a different cap (stationary) on the one end to accomodate the belt at that side. The other end looks standard (rotates). Both ends have some kind of a nut. Do I just remove these nuts to remove the brush strips, or do I have to do something else?

Update

Removed the nuts from each end, which enabled me to remove the regular looking cap, the center rod, and the hub from the stationary end, but still can't get that end off to take out the brush strips. It looks like it may be crimped onto the roller. Brandon, are you familiar with this type, and does it come apart further? The brush is blue bristles set in orange strips. Sorry, I don't know the part # for the assembly.

Does it look anything like this? David from vacuumland just posted this. This is a vibra groomer 3. Should be almost the same.

The strips should slid out with the caps off.

If your machine isn't like this, I dont know if I can help. This style is the only vibra groomer I know about.

Brandon, thanks for the pic. The Vibra Groomer looks essentially the same, except in chrome. However, I can't see enough of the belt end to tell if the end cap is the same. I can get the strips on the plain end out, but the other end seems to be permanently fastened in place. Guess I'll have to keep looking for the instruction book.

Further research indicates this is Eureka part #53411-1, and was used on the Eureka Express canister power nozzle. Part listing shows replaceable strips, so it must come apart. [this post was last edited: 1/1/2011-23:49]
