My Condolences

As I am a relatively new member here I have little knowledge of Terry. I do however know what it's like to lose a dear friend. I wish I would have had the chance to meet him. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. Here in silence is a picture of my Kenmores blacked out. I belive he would have loved them. Terry the next wash I do in this set is for you.

It is very telling that hearts are breaking all over the country. Our world is darker for his passing, but let us be thankful he was among good, good friends and (I'm sure) he felt loved at his time of passing.

Godspeed, Terry.

How Sad.

Terry was one of those people that you think will be around forever. In many ways I am sure he will be.
I am glad that I was able to spend time with him at a few wash-in's over the years. One thing that I always noticed about Terry is that he always managed to spend a little "private" time with each person at the events I attended. I have a lot of great memories of Terry even though I really did not spend large amounts of time with him. One memory that sticks out is from a Wash-In that we attended in Ohio. The car that we were traveling in was broad sided when a teenager ran a stop sign. Terry and I, and someone else was in the back seat. Terry was in the middle. Lucky the wreck was not very bad, but it jolted the car we were in and caused us to fishtail a little. Terry had a big, fresh Starbucks Coffee! Well it ended up all over me. Before we could even discuss what just took place, Terry was so worried that I was burned! He then started to tell me he knew just what to do so that the coffee would not stain the shirt I was wearing! So Terry! I think about this all the time when I think about Terry! Great Memories!
Rest In Peace Terry!

I'm Deeply Touched

I never got to meet Terry, but I am very deeply touched by the love and devotion shown by this club. He was no doubt a truly wonderful human being, and I am saddened by his passing.

i never met Terry face to face but he did e-mail me with encouragement when I was laid up with a foot and bone infection 4 years ago.  He was always happy and liked everyone.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his close friends and family.

Dave and I never had a chance to meet him, but I'm sure he's in heaven and the angels are lining up with their soiled wings and robes and asking him which washing machine they should use to take out the stains. After the rest of heaven finds out that he's arrived, another line forms with angels inquiring about which vacuum to use on a particular cloud. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Across the pond

I am truly sorry about Terry, having looked at his pictures and the comments people have made, it is clear that he was a popular and much loved guy.

Please accept my condolences

Gary

Sorry to hear of Terry's passing.........

I had never met him and not been able to travel to a wash-in (yet) but have seen him in many of the photos posted here in my short couple of years or so here and from the post above and the photos I can see he had many, many friends and was loved by all. Thoughs and Prayers.........

I am deeply saddened by Terry's death. I attended several wash-ins with him over the years and always enjoyed his warmth and sense of humor. We will all miss him terribly!

Please excuse me if this is premature, but I would absolutely love to see a thread with Terry's recipes and specialties, should anyone have them or have access to them.

One of the major religions believes that the characteristics of the departed are dived-up among the surviving loved-ones. I have decided in all earnestness to take-on a few of Terry's. I mean, you just can't go wrong with a personality like that!

A very sad week in applianceville

Its hard for me to wright at this time, everything that has been said is so very true, and I am sure that Terry would upset about all the fuss we are making over his death.

I feel so fortunate to have meet Terry many times, and while I want to say they don't make people like him any more, I know that that's not true and Terry would be the first to agree. For those of us that have been the hosts of several washer conventions Terry will be sorely missed as he would usually show days in advance and stay for days afterwards always on the go doing what ever needed doing.

Jeff and I have decided to dedicate our official opening party at the appliance museum here to Terry  when we have the next convention in 2013 [ date to be announced ]. I am also going to get a plaque made that will feature Terry's name that will be displayed at the museum as one of the founding members of this group. The plaque will be designed so other names can be added as time goes on.

I have and am living an incredibly rich life because of people like Terry and when these tragedies strike I always was taught to do something so that other tragedies can be prevented or minimized so we will shortly make a donation in Terry's memory to one of the many charities that works to prevent smoking related diseases.

And as Jon sugested we must now all Terryon

As with so many have said, I cannot describe how heartbroken I am. Devastating news to say the least. Terry always made me feel so intensely loved. I have to confess, this is one time I have not read through all the postings before I post--which is something I always try to do. Terry was so selfless in giving of his time and talents. He was so meticulous in helping get every vac or appliance convention ready. He would pursue everything with a toothbrush to make it perfect for presentation. Such patience and love. I can attest to him helping keep Robert, Greg, and the DC cvew steady on course and prepared for our onslaught. I loved helping him in the kitchen in Tuscon even ifg it was just loading all the KitchenAids. He knew that was my domain. I will miss him so much I cannot describe. I hurt so much more now with this. What a year--Allen and now Terry.

thoughts

Being a such a new member, I never had the opportunity to meet or interact with Terry. However from the posts filled with memories, pictures, and love... I can tell he was an amazing person. I am sure he will be missed by all.

Terry's Passing... (& 'family')

(As prior posted on VCCC)

Fred N, Charlie W & everyone else who was close to or knew Terry...

First off, I would like to offer my condolences to ALL who knew Terry, whether that be family (by blood), or the 'family' of collectors that we all are, & also to casual acquaintances that knew Terry.

Secondly, I would like to thank both Fred & Charlie for making us aware of & keeping us updated of the events of Terry's passing & future 'arrangements' regarding his funeral.

I have had the pleasure of numerous conversations with Terry via telephone & most recently when I attended the 2011 VCCC Convention in Bloomington, MN. It was always enjoyable visiting with Terry, as he was a very cheerful & upbeat gentleman. Dare I say, that he also seemed to be very knowledgeable, at least on vacuums. ~~~lol~~~ (I believe that would've produced one of Terry's well-known smiles.)

I believe I can say with much certainty, that one would be hard-pressed to find a more caring person than Terry was. He was a "CLASS-ACT" in my humble opinion.

I'm sorry that I will not have the opportunity to have more conversations with my (our) GREAT friend.

May you rest in peace, Terry. You will be in my thoughts often.

Bill

Ps: I have not been active with posts recently, as it's been 'crazy' with going-ons & such lately; HOWEVER, this was/is just "TOO IMPORTANT" to not make time to post to.
