We seem to be on the road of the dangers of softeners etc, and I haven't been able to find anything particularly useful on Google.

Are there ANY alternatives to Fabric Softener that will not damage my Miele front loader? I've read that Vinegar is NOT recommended, as it can cause deterioration of components, Baking Soda + Vinegar would be even worse and "Eco Friendly" stuff is just as bad as the real thing!

I line dry, so soft clothes is kind of a must for me - if I line dry too long, they aren't "soft" anymore and just smell fresh and feel okay. Perhaps Fluffy softener isn't the best choice.

Any softener that isn't a neurotoxin, carcinogenic or anything-o-genic would be appreciated - Thanks

I make my own & sell it on the local carboots. It's really simple. Even though it contains vinegar it's diluted & won't be a problem. Vinegar keeps the machine clean & free of odours.

All you do is get 8 Cups (2 Litres) of Hand Hot Water, & put that in a bowl or something, then add a bottle of Hair Conditioner (I use around 400ml but if you can get one of a similar size it's not much of a problem). Pour the Conditioner in & stir it in the water until it's fully dissolved. The Hair Conditioner can be any kind, I use Alberto Balsam / VO5 & they smell great. Follow with 3 cups (750ml) of White (Distilled) Vinegar. Give it a final stir & put in a bottle. I use approx 50ml per load & it comes out soft & smelling fresh.

I've used Tea Tree, Blueberry, Coconut, Mandarin & even Strawberries & Cream flavoured conditioners & due to the vinegar, towels wont lose their absorbency.

Plus the vinegar neutralises odours & won't cause damage to your machine due to the dilution

HOPE THIS HELPS!
