I've Had A Relapse: Fabric Softener

One thing I cannot understand is the fixation with taking already strong scents left behind by detergent/softener, and making them stronger with yet another product...

Although it would help cover up the "unfresh" smell of laundry done only in 40 degree Fahrenheit water...

The cologne I used to use (whose name escapes me at the moment) had an entire line of very expensive products; bath wash, deodorant, shampoo. Seem to recall they introduced a liquid scent for laundry. I'd moved on to Aqua di Gio by then.

The blue smelled like jasmine flowers and plastic daycare toys... It danced across your nose leaving a linguring smell of floral plastic baby puke
The yellow smelled like some kind of unidentifible flower with a very strong petrolum jelly smell. It also had some kind of migraine inducing odor that comes with new shower curtains... Kinda like some one had melted vasaline in a rag weed patch and was on a new shower curtain.... It was bad

CUddle so Soft... This smelled like dying celery and roses... It also had a very watery aroma to it... It actually smelled ok, but the waxyness of it was very apperant. I doubt it would do much

The Green Snuggle..This smelled very much of aloe and lettuce... With a hint of water lilly and another plesent "wet" flower... It was very subtle, very nice and very clean

Libre Nacho Downey.... They had very little difference in smells... Im not a fan of mexican downey..This smelled very much like an over perfumed hooker with personal issues..... ANd Bad BO... It gave me an instant smell headache.. I choked and moved on...

Green Cap Downy.... It smelled very bland, but had that a chemical smell of plastic scented flowers and wax....

The Coppertop Downey... This i took a quick wiff of... It smells like sunscreen, sand and overtanned middle aged women... Not great, but it would hide the smell of bad laundry habits easily

Purple Downy... My favorite... It had a very plesant rose smell to it, and it smelled clean and had no plastic/waxy/chemical stench to it... Was quite nice

Snuggle Super Clean

Or something to that effect smells terrible in the bottle, but once in your laundry, it has a classic detergent scent that I can't quite identify. It has grown on me over the last few weeks.

I really like the Downy Unstoppables 'Fresh' liquid. Not sure how to describe it in an olfactory sense, but if it was sound, it would be a high note, compared to most softeners, which come in as a boomier, lower note; more at the bottom of one's sense of smell. For me---and I know how incredibly subjective these things are---it's the one to beat. The cost is ridiculous ($9.00 for a small bottle) but as scented softener is only used on bed linens and occasionally bath linens, I suppose it's an allowable extravagance.

Don't smell it in the store, it is very strong. Just use a reduced amount in your laundry. Sheets, blankets, towels are all I run with it. Wonder why some of these new items aren't available in a 5 dose trial size...
