Farberware grill/rotisserie

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

my parents have an unopened one still in the box!

My parents divorced when I was in middle school, and my father remarried several years later (early 1970s). I was helping to clean out and reorganize their basement when I came across a Farberware Open Hearth still in the box, unopened. Not sure if it's the rotisserie model or the non-rotisserie. Must have been a wedding gift they never opened.

My mother had one with rotisserie and I remember her using it for chicken in the 1960s, particularly in winter when it was raining and you couldn't really use a charcoal barbecue (our grill did not have overhead cover, so it was useless in the rain). I remember the chicken tasting better than when she roasted it in the oven.

My father in particular likes to grill meat, and while he has an outdoor Weber gas grill, this baby is basically an indoor bbq. I think I will unpack it and try to get him to use it.

Power cord

Kevin,
I know what you mean...the cord was quite warm after use and when I took it out of the plug there was a rather large spark. I noticed that EBay has replacement cords and I think I will get one for further use.
I'm assuming the Guide to Creating Culinary Masterpieces" is a cookbook and, yes, I'd be interested. Anything in there that caught your eye?

Check ace or true value I got a new cord there cheap.

They made two motor types one like I scanned it hooks to the bar. The other hooks to the bar a flat bar this links shows photos of both types. They also made a motor that work both ways the pin part could be removed for the hook on type.

I still get a spark when I pull the plug but it does not bother me. The guy at the hardware store said it is because there is no off switch on it.
