my parents have an unopened one still in the box!
My parents divorced when I was in middle school, and my father remarried several years later (early 1970s). I was helping to clean out and reorganize their basement when I came across a Farberware Open Hearth still in the box, unopened. Not sure if it's the rotisserie model or the non-rotisserie. Must have been a wedding gift they never opened.
My mother had one with rotisserie and I remember her using it for chicken in the 1960s, particularly in winter when it was raining and you couldn't really use a charcoal barbecue (our grill did not have overhead cover, so it was useless in the rain). I remember the chicken tasting better than when she roasted it in the oven.
My father in particular likes to grill meat, and while he has an outdoor Weber gas grill, this baby is basically an indoor bbq. I think I will unpack it and try to get him to use it.
