This is the appliance I was trying to remember when we were talking about the Ronson Cook 'n Stir blender as being in the category of things that keep food moving while cooking. It is a cross between a rotisserie and a tumble washer. I cannot get a link to work, but if you want to see an ad for this appliance, Google Farberware Ultra Chef. Then pick the link to the Texas Monthly--December 1983--Books Result. It will take you to page 79 where the ad is for this weird appliance. Don't miss the price!

Parts for this are listed on ebay which is how I found the name. The link takes you to the listing so that you can see the glass cooking drum. If you look at the enlarged pics, it looks like it has slight vanes or ribs to help turn, tumble or rotate more liquid dishes.

cool!

That's a cool idea. It reminds me of the Kenwood mixer that cooks that I saw a few months ago.

See attached link.

(As neat as it was I didn't see the use of it for me, especially at that price! Plus having 60Hz electricity..well...)

I never used one....

but I did see the Farberware Ultra Chef in stores and print ads. It was an interesting concept, but it looked like hell to clean, besides being fairly expensive.

I recently aquired a Cooking Chef at 35% off, (The only way I'd ever consider it) The RRP of $1999 came down to $1299 and then there is $100 cash back on top of that. For the same price as a Major, I got Major that cooks.

Its great for making Custards, Bechemal sauce or even Curry when you need to fry off the spices and keep stirring constantly. Anything that needs constant stirring it does a fantastic job of.

It has a 6.7L bowl compared to the standard 4.5L and realy does deliver as they promise. Its not something I use every day, but it'll make egg custard for 4 custard tarts without me wearing my arms out.

awesome!

GOOD LORD Kenwood mixers have gone up!

I got my KM230 in the mid 1990s for about $400 -- expensive at the time but now...jeez they are >$1000 US.

OUCH.

No, my KM230 doesn't have a 1000 watt motor but I found with its 7 quart/6.7litre bowl it is quite adequate for what I do with it, which includes making dual loaves of bread.

Boy I'd better make sure it doesn't ever break as I'll never be able to afford another one!

Yowza.
