Let's see...

Favorite sound - the sound of my aunt's Norge Timeline as it kicked into agitation.

Another is the rhythmic agitation of the GE filter flo combined with the sound of the rushing water.

Smells? Well, the scent of the vintage FAB that goes with the Norge from my aunt's house. In our house, the scent of Cheer, Ajax, Oxydol, All and occasionally Rinso Blue. On a few even rarer occasions, there was the scent of Brillo Enzyme Detergent. Unfortunately it was a great product that didn't last - came to the national market just before all the phosphate nonsense. In the 70's we added Punch and Drive.

Other fine sounds - from the apartment days - the squeaky sound of clothesline pulleys and the sound of the push clothespins as they secure the wet clothes to the line.

Some of my memories....

1. Mom's Maytags doing thier thing after learning how to defeat the lid switch and wahsing with HOT water and plenty of detergent...ok until I shrunk several of her blouses doing this. We used Tide and Downey or Snuggle usually.

2. Paternal Grandmothers 63' Westinghouses going thrue their rumbles clanks and clunks..using vintage powder she purchased from Amway...and using the CHEAP pink Top Crest rinse additive. And her later Maytags and her fetish with Bold and NO softner.

3. Maternal grandmothers Lady Kenmores, and later Maytags churning with Dynamo, and Cling Free dryer sheets ( i've tried to copy this scent and NEVER have been able to) I think they changed the Dynamo formula.

4. My stepmothers MOL Kenmores churning with Cheer and Downey, and how her dryer vented directly into the basement with a nylon over the end of the hose.

5. The smell walking to school in the morning of neighboring houses dryers running. Used to make me wish I could go back home and curl back up in bed with some Dorito's and pass out until I turned 18.

6. And finally the Smells that I can get to eminate from my front load Frigidaires using Persil green goo detergent, and VerNel Sky Blue when I can afford it ( the expensive Miele WAD detergent's)

Anyway my couple of scent's worht...LOL

The sound...

The sound of a Maytag during agitation. Not the agitation itself, but the buzz like rush that I have been told is the pump pumping air. I had this with the A208, and now with the 9808.

Don't get me wrong, I also loved the Whirlpool Imperial, but this very Maytag sound is it for me.
