My Favourite Fabric Conditioner/Softener has to be Lenor Pure Care Orange Blossom, because it has a really nice tropical fruity orange scent, and when the clothes are dry it gives off a light fresh Orange scent, which isn't overpowering in the slightest. I used to use Lenor Spring Awakening (Downy April Fresh in USA) but recently Ive found the scent to be very overpowering because it has the extended perfume capsules in.

My Softeners in Order of Like

1. Lenor Pure Care Orange Blossom
2. Comfort Tropical Burst (Orange)
3. Aldi Ancosoft Naturals Macadamia & Almond.
4. Comfort Blue Skies
5. Fairy Naturals Fabric Softener (Almond Milk and Honey)

I cant stand any of the Comfort Exhilarations or Lenor Infusions Softeners, they are too strong, and I like light fragrances.

Well, I'm a fan of April Fresh Downy, but I think I have a new favorite, Island Splash Suavitel. The scent is pretty potent in the bottle, but it's no where near as strong on the clothes. Leaves a nice clean scent. And softens very nicely.

Most gorgeous scent, Morning Sun Suavitel. When I am feeling nostalgic for my childhood days, the cheap watery pink supermaket stuff that comes in a gallon jug.

A second vote for Gain AMT

I also really like Gain Apple Mango Tango. Currently have it in liquid and dryer sheet forms. Used in conjunction with Gain Island Fresh detergent (or even the Original scent) it just makes bed linens smell so dreamy.

Another one I really like is Comfort Pure from the UK. It has a Dove soap kind of smell that's very soothing.

Almost forgot! I also have a bottle of Miele's Care Collection liquid fabric softener. It's a bluish-lavender color (sorry, I'm severely color blind and that's the best guess I can make) and smells kinda old school. I've been saving it for special occasions because it's kind of pricey. Someone told me that it is simply repackaged Vernel Day at the Sea from Germany. Not sure if this is true or not, but if it is we pay US$12 for a 50 load bottle, if that puts the price in perspective.

I agree completely, I love Comfort Tropical, so does my nan, as she used to use Morrisons Peach and it smells just like that :)

Sunshiny days has to be my favourite!

I for some reason, can't use Gain softener. I normally don't have sensitive skin, but the Gain makes me break out and itch something fierce. And it sucks cause I like the scents that Gain puts out. The detergent I can use with no problem, I just can't use the softener. And that's the only one that irritates me, I can use anything else out there, but that.

I also like the morning sun suavitel, it is inexpensive as well. $1 for a small bottle at Dollar General. I only use the recommended amount for a small load. The scent is quite strong.

not to offend anyone.but

I've never seen or heard of "Vernel freash day at the sea"...I don't know..but..it sounds either like a social disease or the lastest thing in femmine cleansing products. I probalby shouldn't ask..but what does it smell like?

I prefer Downey Free & Clear when I want a little softness but no stench. I also like Tide Free and Clear.

What happened to Tide Free and Clear Coldwater? Does anyone know? I bought it a few times and then it disappeared.

Walmart's Great Value Original Clean Fabric Softener

Try the one labled "Bold Clean Scent" fragrance! Here is what I like about it.

1. Smells clean and fresh and the fragrance is identical to Gain Original Scent Fabric Softener, but not as strong
2. Has no thick, gooey or greasy consistency (like Suavitel) and does not clog up the dispenser (dont have to dilute)
3. Pours out white, like milk. No artificial dyes
4. Excellent price!! Way cheaper than Gain, Downy and Suavitel.

Was pleasantly surprised by it. Also, if you try it and dont like it, Walmart offers the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on the bottle. You can always take it back!!

Have A Stash Of Boutique Fabric Softeners

Caldrea and Doux mainly. Then there is a case lot one got very cheaply of commercial fabric softener for those trips to the laundromat (this stuff does make things dry faster, better to deal with the not beyond dripping wet laundry that comes from the washers), however normally don't bother with the stuff.

Purchased and loved Downy Free & Clear FS, but the stuff like many other Downy liquids has finite shelf life. Found that out when purchased several bottles with a "free" coupons awhile back. Since one does not use FS often and even then not very much the bottles sat sitting for over a year or so. Gradually they turned to a gloppy curdled mess. When one contacted P&G and gave them the serial numbers from the bottles they were able to determine the manufacture date. Was then told most Downy liquid FS have a shelf life of about a year more or less, after that things start to happen.

Usually am that well pleased with the scents from my vintage detergents, along with various European things in my stash (Ariel "Alpine Frachie", Persil au savon de Marseille, and OMO that really don't want any extra fragrace from a FS, thank you very much. Aside from a bit of vinegar in the final rinse water that is about it.

I also don't use fabric softener. I sometimes try it--particularly for towels that are air dried. But it doesn't make enough difference to make it worth it. Plus I have the stench of most fabric softeners today. And I have concerns about the chemical residues. One of the last times I used softener, I had a noticeable increase in skin issues.

The only one I didn't dislike or hate was Ecover. Mild scent, no problems with my skin, and, if I recall right, it was said to be more environmentally friendly. But the regular daily price makes me gag, and I've seen it at only a store I seldom get to (maybe once every few years).
