Can anyone tell me if liquid detergents contain fillers because if you pour a bit of liquid into a jar full of water and it stir it the water goes cloudy. Does this mean the liquid detergent contains fillers? I have not yet come across a truly free rinsing washing detergent available in the UK and all the main brands leave residue behind and doesn't matter how many times you rinse it never fully comes out. I also have an artificial water softner and only put 2 teaspoons of liquid detergent in otherwise there is too many suds. Does anyone here have problems with detergents not rinsing well and if they have a water softner what detergent do they use? This post is directed at UK people only really though feel free to reply wherever you are if you can help.

Liquids

Hi Sandra, There are no "Fillers" in liquid detergent, the colour you see is the diluted product just like if you dissolved powder in the glass...

Questions:

What washing machine are you using??
What temperature and wash programme?
Is the machine used with Full Washloads?

I know of some friends with built in water softeners and they use both modern and vintage washers, the dosage appears to be less than half the stated dose, the issue comes with rinsing. Does your machine have exteded or higher level rinsing as an option??

I`ve used many liquids & gels and of all Persil S & M rinsed out the quickest & best, in fact it was the one with the lowest amount of suds in the wash!!!

Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your response. Do you have a water softner too? How much do you put in of Persil liquid? How do you rate the own brand liquids for rinsing or am i better sticking to the main brands? I don't like the heavy scents the only one i like the smell of is the Persil liquid non bio but it contains optical brighteners so will fade colours so i am told.

In answer to your questions my machine is a 8 month old Bosch WAE2465GB Classix 'Vario Perfect'. I use mainly 40 degrees C for cottons and a full load though i never fill the drum completely to the top! Underwear, towels and linen get done at 60 C. I find if i put 35ml of Persil small and mighty in it just does not rinse out. 10 ml is ok though. My machine has 'Aqua Plus' though the water level never comes up to the door glass unless i put few items on even with 'Aqua Plus'. The rinse/spin and freshen up cycle uses more water but still not enough. I have badgered Bosch to get the pressure switch altered to take in more water but they say this can't be done as the water levels are automatic. I wish i could ask someone competent to do this for me.

I do find soap based products rinse perfectly and have no rinsing problems with that however they have no enzymes which i need!

Cheers Sandra
